I have written Byrd and Mercer. Later I even wrote Mercer just like the name because he was away from his prime.

So from that can we rest assured that the 11 guys who KO'd Weaver were all better fighters than Vlad, and they all hit harder than the Ukraine?

Wlad, like Weaver, and Earnie Shavers for that matter did get better with age. They learned how not to get knocked out by people like Ron Stander and Lamon Brewster. Having said that, I'd pick Wlad over Weaver because I'm thinking about the Wlad who learned to pace himself and not get hit too often.

That's not strictly true is it? Weaver was knocked out in his 41st fight by Smith having had only 20 fights 5 of which he had lost. Similarly in his 46th fight he lost to Du Plooy who had only 19 fights. Then there was the 15 fight novice Lewis in Mike Weavers 52nd fight.

Vlad on the other hand went on an 11 year 22 fight run before losing again after Brewster.

Weaver improved dramatically for whatever reason. Mike was getting knocked out by a higher clientele. When he started he not only got beaten by Duane, but by Rodney Bobick as well. A good indicator of his improvement was that he had lost to Stan Ward and then beat him. He had a lot of wars by the Du Ploy fight. Du Ploy was a prospect for about a month and a half. I remember he came into the ring with Lou Duva to the song Johnny B Goode. Hadn't thought about that in a long time.

Weaver lost tremendous number of fights and was an inept boxer at best... He wasn't very big either... Wladimir would have plowed him under -- just like the slowpoking puncher James Smith did... However, Wlad had only a 2-fight winning streak going in the Brewster fight... He had a 16-fight winning streak going heading into the Corrie Sanders fight.

Vitali Klitschko was so concerned about his brother's welfare that he begged him to retire after his 3rd defeat to Brewster... "I make enough money for both of us Wladimir. You need to do something else -- you're just not a fighter." ... Wlad said, "I'm so happy you're so concerned about my health, but it's my career.. I'm going to be fighting when I'm 40 years old so you better get used to it.. Nobody is going to make me quit, and I'm going to win the title back if it kills me."

Wlad would do much better in this fight pre 'prime'.

Wlad would do better after Steward schooled him... That's when he flattened Brock, Chambers, Austin, Thompson, and other Weaver caliber fighters.

And this story is still more believable than Wilt Chamberlain beating Ali or Povetkin pissing clean.

Povetkin did piss clean every time according to WADA... VADA was forced to retract their statements that he didn't... Let's see what happens with this latest VADA BS because I don't trust VADA after they lied about Povetkin's Medlonium tests... And a couple really huge underdogs beat Ali so he's not sacrosanct.
