Campbell v Mendy according to that article.
And we got neither. Some guy who has never fought outside of Mexico with six losses no name on his record. Massive tape back for Campbell after a decent 2016.
I hope he calls out Cardle in press conference and videos and makes it clear that they ducked the fight.

Don't think that article in question confirmed Mendy. It just said it could be, or that Campbell wanted to fight him kind of thing.

Luke Campbell vs. Jairo Lopez
Tommy Coyle vs. Kofi Yates
Dave Allen now added to the undercard. Hopefully against an Ian Lewison or somebody around that level...

Can't see that happening just yet, Allen just looking for a win under his belt against some Latvian, which he more than deserves after his last two fights.

Starting to think this card is absolutely dog shite.
Allen against a bum, no Coyle/Yates (looks that way), Burnett against a poor opponent.
Luke Campbell in another pointless fight.
I give props to Eddie sometimes but this time he needs a slap.
If I was from Hull and they put Coyle and Campbell on against nobodies I'd tell them to stick it.

Agreed looks like I'll just tune in at 10pm for the main event.
Campbell is 1/200 and should have been fighting Cardle but we know why that's not happening....

But the main event could be excellent and lead to another superb fight, McDonnell v Hugo Ruiz.

See Boxrec and Matchroom taken Yates off the schedule for the Coyle fight, is he out?

Agreed it's a one fight card and the fact it's for a world title saves it! Worse than any announcements allegedly card!

Definitely a shame not to see Luke Campbell advance from the Tommy Coyle, Gary Sykes and Derry Matthews wins.
But I'm not moaning especially if McDonnell replicates his brother's success, beating a Mexican at home in a belter of a fight for a world title.

You've got to give McDonnell credit(and Hearn) I thought he would do well to win a British so for him to win the European title surpassed my expecatations , his record might not be murderers row but he's already beat some guys I thought he would struggle with, guys like Wale, Burkinshaw and Wood, Yegorov was unbeaten and Parodi was a solid European level fighter and Gavin's still plugging away unbeaten and he's got this shot so fair play to him and his team
Ive been hearing of Vargas for a while now, BM tipped him as a potential star of 2017 before this fight got made and his numbers look good and he seems to have a bit of power as well as being decent technically, he hasn't fought any real live opponents yet though so there is a slight chance he might be hyped and Gavin can do to him what Jamie did to Ceja to become world champ
Gavin's not as good as Jamie though and I think Vargas might be better than Ceja so I think a world title might be a step too far for McDonnell, no disgrace though because Vargas may well to go on to become a big name if he becomes world champ, being an unbeaten big punching Mexican and all
Gavin is not on Jamie's level but he does have a lot of similar attributes, height and reach and a great engine who grows as the fight progresses, I fancy Vargas to win but I think McDonnell might make it to the end

Allen against a TBA Bum is a relatively even contest.

Is Parodi really an EBU level fighter, rather than an EBU-EU one? Ya, he has a bunch of wins, but most of them are over crap.
The guy who nearly shut him out last time (someone Jamie outpointed a few years ago) is more of an EBU level guy IMO.

I can see where your coming from, European level is a bit of a strange one, outside of the UK and Germany the talent pool is quite shallow, Russia produce good fighters but rarely fight for the European title, i'd say in half of the divisions, not including the world titlists, if a fighter is proven the best in Britain he's a good chance of already being the top fighter in Europe

If Vargas travels well and fights to his Mexico form mcdonnell will struggle.
Mcdonnell's chance is to avoid power punches and outwork him.
Great opportunity on U.K. Soil. Hope he pulls it off but my money is on Vargas inside schedule.

I don't know anything about Rey Vargas, but Gavin McDonnell has never particularly impressed me. I'm picking Rey just based on his record, but this is an intriguing match.
