As its now confirmed I guess the only good thing that will come out of it
is that the winner (probably Hatton ) will be IBF No. 1 and that the IBF
do force their mandatories on their champions more then other world
bodies. No joke biggest wins are against totally shot fighters. Ivan Robinson and Terron Millet and the useless though brave Chucky T. In his first fight back after Mitchell he beat somebody on their pro debut. Guys I think it could be worse.

Anyone remember when Howard Eastman entered the ring in Norwich to fight someone whose name escapes me now (he was that bad). Eastman wore Norwich City colours and got a huge reception. And Richie Woodhall always fought in front of packed houses in Telford, many of them West Brom supporters (Richie always made sure he plugged The baggies).

In terms of actual bums on seats, how many other fighters worldwide can guarantee 16,000 arses on seats for wrestling with a deckchair. Tyson couldn't manage more than 12,000 ticket sales in his last event.

Well Loftgroov he appeals to fans because he seems like an ordinary bloke with no pretensions, fame has not changed him in any way or it seems it hasn't changed him. And he has an exciting style of boxing all action. From outside Manchester his cult may seem strange but I think he appeals to the ordinary people there.
He has has a bad 2004 thats for sure when after the Tackie fight everyone
thought he will go in with true world class it hasn't happened. But he seems to honset to me to be having a laugh at his fans expensce he seems one fighter who actually is in tune with his fans and is disapointed that he is not giving them what they really want.

It may well mean Hatton gets the SHOT but if the fight doesn't go directly to purse bids can Mitchell or Tyszu be satisfied financially and would Hatton travel.

They couldn't satisfy Harris, Tsyzu in victory re-establishes himself top three P4P. The money would have to be MASSIVE because:

Tszyu v Gatti is mASSIVE

Tsyzu v Mayweather is MASSIVE

Tszyu v COTTO is MASSIVE

Tsyzu v SPINKS is Massive

Tsyzu v JUDAH II is massive

Kostya has options. Hatton is just one of them.

Well, Hatton is still one of the biggest fighters in the country, these fights have to be covered anyway, and I have to be objective about his performance. It will be interesting to see just how good he looks against Stewart, whether he baloons in between, and how motivated he looks in there.

It's very sad, but Hatton appears to be going backward. Stewart is a step back from Tackie for sure.

Ricky Hatton believes victory over Mike Stewart in Manchester on October 1 will earn him the biggest fight of his career.

Hatton squares off with the American at the MEN Arena in a final eliminator for the IBF light-welterweight title.

The 25-year-old is gunning for a showdown with either Kostya Tszyu or Sharmba Mitchell - who contest the IBF belt in the autumn.

Hatton said: "It doesn't matter who I fight, you just know you're fighting the best.

"Kostya is considered the best in the division and rightly so. If he beats Mitchell he proves that.

"Tszyu is considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters out there and he's rightly ranked at the top of the pile."

Hatton can expect to move closer to his dream date by overcoming the 26-year-old from Delaware.

Stewart appeared on Hatton's undercard last April and was decked three times on his way to a points defeat at the hands of Mitchell.

But Stewart has only lost twice in 40 professional contests and for that he will earn Hatton's respect.

Hatton said: "The way I fight and the way Stewart fights means there will be fireworks.

"It's clear now how it's going to go - it will be exciting while it lasts. No matter who I fight I always want to be entertained.

Hatton has suffered a number of setbacks as he bids to establish himself as the biggest player in the light-welterweight division.

He was originally slated to fight Vivian Harris in October but the WBA champion withdrew after announcing himself dissatisfied with his purse.

But the Manchester-based fighter believes Harris' decision to quit has significantly increased his chances of dominating the light-welterweight division.

They just aren't serious. Fighting for the IBF No.1 spot? Hatton will never fight Mitchell or Tszyu. For a start Tszyu will almost certainly move up in weight in whether he wins or loses and their will be a lot more lucrative offers for him than the peanuts that FW offers. Say Mitchell wins, then what? He had the big chance to make that fight a few months ago and failed miserably. Frank made the point that he didn't think Mitchell was worth the money he was asking for, what will have changed? Same with Harris. Does Frank think the people are fornicating stupid? These fights will never happen, EVER. Frank is small time. He just can't deliver.

Ricky doesn't seem unhappy with him not fighting for a title, he's taken it pretty well in fact, too well. No signs of anger at Frank for failing patheticly again. He's comfortable, he's probably sitting in his livingroom with a big smug grin thinking he has it easy for at least the next 5 months, laughing at the chumps who are going to go along and watch him and line his and Franks pockets, easy money.

I hope he gets KTFO in the 1st for this bullshit. I was convinced Harris was going to beat him anyway if that fight was going to go through, Harris has at least 5 times the hunger for it than Ricky has. Run Ricky run, you'll get yours someday, you can't run from the top guys forever (or can he?).
