Not fussed on this tbh. Would have preferred the others listed above. Corrales in a proper unification being my top choice

Hopefully the WBA orders Corrales to fight the winner

Mikey Garcia beats lomachenko in a one sided fight for me

If he beat him I doubt he'd win in that fashion. Mikey is a patient boxer-puncher and I think Loma would at minimum be competitive in a boxing match. In my view the Zlat fight also flattened Garcia from a defensive standpoint; he was hit freely by Rojas, dropped by Martinez, and tagged and hurt early by Burgos. I think Loma could score with quicker shots and generally defend well against him, but Garcia has the type of sharp and powerful offense (VL lacks this power) that could lead to the Ukranian fighting too defensively.

Doubt we see it anytime soon

Since you bizarrely had Smith beating him by three points, claiming that 'Sosa was wack' and that 'Smith won it easily', your negativity in this thread comes as no surprise. Would Loma-Smith be a better fight in your opinion?
Both would be poor fights.

Sosa might last longer, but Smith would put on more of a show.

Lomachenko should be aiming higher than these two.

I just think lomachenkos moves and footwork wouldn't be that effective against a good jabber and mover like Garcia. He'll be very wary of taking that uppercut or a pinpoint straight right from Garcia too. Garcia has the reach advantage and he would be utilizing that so I think we would see him controlling the distance all night. Garcia fights very well off the back foot and can drop fighters while moving back like he did with salido a few times so I don't think lomachenko would have much joy at all to be honest. It would be a good fight to watch because I like seeing great fighters having their backs against the wall and having to pull out everything they know.

Lomachenko and Usyk on the same card is the stuff wank's are made off :yay: :yay: :yay:

I just think Lomachenko is developing more and more into the perfect pro boxer by each passing fight, I love the way he just looks at opponents to begin with, throwing pitty patty combnations, testing their refelexes and reactions then round by round just getting busier and busier, hitting harder and harder, you seen him break down Martinez to win the title then last time out against Walters he was just starting to get into full flow before Walters quit, I was gutted at the time because I couldn't wait to see how good Loma was gonna look the following round, it just shows you how hard and accurate his punches are becoming though

Ive been very impressed with Sosa lately too, he pulled off a great KO win over Fortuna after being put down earlier in the fight and I thought he was excellent against Smith as well, he just seemed to walk through anything Stephen done that night and wouldn't give him any ground whatsoever, he's a tough hombre and has a superb engine and is in great form

I do think Sosa is tailor made for Lomachenko though, he'll play with Jason and I expect this to go the same way as all his recent fights, he'll take a look at Sosa for the 1st few rounds, make him miss and counter him before really upping the workrate and power in the middle rounds and I fancy Lomachenko to get another KO round about the 10th

Lomachenko will win by compassionate stoppage.

Too match up well against Loma you need either good footwork to try and match his or to be strong as a bull to push him back and stop him using his angles (Salido).

Sosa hasn't got the best footwork and I am seeing Loma darting in and out, side to side from 3/4 range and hitting him at will.

Sosa is a tough fighter and will take his licks for as long as he can.

I don't want Loma to move anywhere. Would love to see him fight all comers at the weight. He's still got it to prove IMO. Salido and Davis are fights that should happen in the next 12-18 months.

Lomachenko is coming in with an intimidation factor to this fight because he made Walters quit. Sosa basically lost to Walters but got a draw. Sosa will be thinking that if he can completely wipe out Walters, it should be a very hard night indeed. Against Lomachenko I think it becomes clear to opponents that they don't even have a punchers chance in the fight and that realization should dawn on Sosa midway through the fight at the latest.

I was impressed with Sosa in the fight against Smith and although he lacks finesse, his style is very effective even at the top level but still I see Lomachenko making him look like a complete novice

I like Sosa but people may be overating him because of the Stephen smith fight. His win over Fortuna was a significantly better result.

Walters handled him without any major issues, that fight was never a draw.

I still want to see Lomachenko fight Salido again but the latter clearly doesn't want it. A real shame considering he seemed to be a fight anyone anywhere type.

I am more one for fighters clearing up a weight class before moving up ( if that's what they will do). I rate Berchelt ( I called him to smash Vargas) but he is nowhere near Lomas level, Floyd will never let Davis fit Lomachenko as well.

The only place for any competition for Lomachenko is lightweight.

Another mesmerising performance from Lomachenko, he just toyed with Sosa from start to finish, you almost felt sorry for Sosa he gave it a good go but it was still miles off what was required, he was just hitting fresh air all night, I reckon Lomachenko can fight with both hands tied behind his back and still not take a shot, his footwork again was just sublime and he put on a clinic, I think it was the body shots that damaged Sosa and it was a good call from his corner as I reckon Loma was just about to get him out of there

Just sheer class, Lomachenko fast becoming my fav fighter ever, hopefully the Garcia fight can happen soon

I love watching this guy. But I fear he will come unstuck if he keeps moving up. He doesn't look big at the weight now.

Simply stunning, technically perfect - I cannot think of a fighter with better footwork and balance than Lomachenko at any time, certainly not one I've seen much footage of, perhaps Robinson in his prime. His footwork is incredible, he seems to almost dissapear and reappear in a puff of smoke, it's like trying to fight a quantum particle. I love the way he doesn't force the shots either, he never overcommits, it's just a steady stream of short sharp shots, occasionally punctuated by a big body shot or straight right, keeping his opponent continually off balance.

Also respect to Sosa's father, he called it perfectly, it's possible Sosa could have gone the full 12, but why let him take a beating like that.

Need to see the rematch for Lomochenko, that's the fight everyone wants to see.

It must be so frustrating fighting Loma. He is very hard to hit but batters you every mistake you make. His workrate is incredible too. He just doesn't let you breathe. With his style he will end a lot of careers and confidence.

I think his career will be relatively short, his style of fighting requires incredible levels of fitness and absolutely pinpoint timing - which he has, but once those reflexes start to go, he will become a lot more human, but I think Lomachenko is going to achieve an awful lot in a very short space of time. He's going to make very very good fighters look very ordinary.

Yeah spot on - I think he's 29 already and if you look at say Tennis players who rely so much on fitness, footwork, speed and reflexes are usually shot by mid thirties.

He's also had 400 amateur fights, losing only one... if he lives the life I reckon he can be on top til early Thirties (32?) then he will start to deteriorate and get caught more

Great descriptions by James. Loma does seem to teleport from one side of a fighter to the other at times. I also agree he will likely have a short career.

The win over Russell Jr was really something...as GR looks incredible himself.

I'm with you 100% - I wish he'd turned over a couple of years earlier and just had more time to clean out divisions. I'm really not a fan of the modern day trend of division hopping just for the sake of it rather than being forced to because weight-making is an issue.
