You may think Tua hits WAY harder than James, but punch placement is almost as important as power in the shots.
Besides that, how can you compare James' ring smarts to Tuas?
David Tua has no skills, just a hard punch.
And dont be fooled, if James lands a left hook on the tip of a guys chin, he's going to get dizzy, I dont care what size he is.

Vitalis Jab is not nearly snappy enough to stop James from getting into range, and his footwork is next to robotic without him taking body shots, so it will not be hard for James to measure and time over a couple of rounds, especially with the body work he's sure to employ.
Vitali will miss enough to get tired by the 6th or 7th round, at which point I think James will establish his extreme superiority over Vitali as a boxer.

James has a cast iron chin- couple that with his being able to see the punches coming, which in effect will allow him to lean slightly away from the force of the shot and negate the harmful effects of it- and James will not have to fear the power.
Vitali wont be able to shake him or stay away from him enough to earn a win over James.

Just my opinion.

Byrd would give JT more trouble than Vit will if they fight.
But I would pay to see either fight.

You trhink he's the best HW in the world after his win over Holyfield...

James Toney would get the beating of his life if he fought any of the Klitchko's but especially Wlad who imo is a lot better than his brother but lacking in chin and stamina. It wouldn't be an issue against Toney, it would end in 1 or 2 rounds imo.

Though Toney has a terrific chin its completely unproven at heavy, he was seen getting dropped while sparring a heavy before the injury. James Toney is barely 5'10, he is not just gonna lie on the ropes and make Wlad miss all night with ease, he would get hurt, Ray Mercer got a beating against Wlad, Toney is going down even faster.

He doesn't even stand a chance imo against Wlad and probably Vitaly as well. His stamina at heavy with him at 220 is seriously lacking, watch the Holyfield fight and you will see, he could hardly throw 3 punches in a row before having too rest, lucky for him old Evanders stamina was even worse.

Hows he even gonna hurt one of the giants? Toney wasn't known as a puncher in any of the divisions he fought in. This guy is going down, any heavy who's big and can punch will beat him imo. Or even a heavy who can punch will stand a very good chance, Brewster for example .

Size means shit all if you get hit to the body. As mentioned earlier, it's about shot placement, not raw power. Tua hits harder than anyone, but is the the top man, no, why? Because his accuracy and placement suck.

Toney throws a lot more shots than most heavyweights too. I am not sure if he can beat either of the big Ukranian's, Wlad is smarter, and Vitali is granite tough both of which will cause him problems.

I would love to find out however. Joe Louis wasn't much bigger than Toney, and he beat the shit out of Max Baer who was 6'6 and abe Simon who was 6'5", he also battered giant primo carnera too. Size doesn't stop you being hurt.

If a 225lbs Toney connects with a peach to the chin, or the solar plexus, it hurts, simple as. toney has better punching technique than either klit.

Joe Louis was one of the best punchers of all time, in fact in The Rings top 100 punchers of all time list (which sucks, placement wise, not Louis) he was No.1. Louis was a lean musclar 6'1 as well. Toney is a buff 5'9. That muscle that he's put on is really gonna affect his stamina. Watch the 4th round against Evander, Toney get the better of Evander early and looks to have him in trouble with fast combos, then all of a sudden Toney stops punching just when he has Evander where he wants him and retreats to the ropes for almost the next 2 minutes while trying to get his gas back, Evander then brings it back and makes it a close round in the end.

Toney would not be able get get inside against Wlad, he would get hammered by hard jabs and lead left hooks and WOULD go down, he's just no gonna last long enough for any work to the body to take effect, these heavyweights can really bang, Toney would never had felt the kind of power that guy like Wlad would bring, ask Juan Carlos Gomez what its like to be hit by a heavyweight.

Honestly, I see not even a chance that Toney would beat either of the Klitchko's but especially Wlad because of his offensive talents. Vitalys can be a bit ponderous, but would get it done just a bit later than Wlad (round 2 or 3 imo). I was gonna favour McCline over him as well, the size difference their was ridiculus.

Wooh, I haven't been able to see those pictures untill now, Toney looks old aswell as fat.

There's a guy on another forum where I post who had a theory on the psychology of guys with greying facial hair and being shot. He said this BEFORE the Lewis vs Klitchko fight and also used examples in baseball and a number of US sports.

Whilst we all thought the theory was rediculous, Lennox didn't have the aura about him of years gone by against Klitchko, I just wonder if Toney might come unstuck here - Booker is undefeated, so must be a least cautiously respected.

Toney talks the talk, walks the walk but LOOKS bloody awful.

Skill is more important than size. Sure Toney is a small heavyweight, and Vitali's height , weight and reach advantages are big, but Toney is a lot more skilfull. Whilst it is a big task, it is not beyond reason. Bear in mind that the likes of Archie Moore and Ezzard Charles beat some very big men in their times, whilst still campagining as light heavyweights.

Yeah I know what your saying but Archie Moores a lot better than James Toney as was Ezzard Charles, Charles was pretty tall as well. He won't win against them though, remember what Ray Mercer had to take from Wlad to get inside, same with Chris Byrd, Toneys a lot shorter than them guys and would get battered on the way in.

Mercer was 41 for god's sake, and had been inactive as well. He had nothing left to offer by that stage, not a good comparison.

Toney is still relatively fresh, and certainly hasn't taken the punishment Mercer has in his career. He is also a far better defensive fighter than Mercer ever was.
