I just like Veeraphol although I was nearly not going to have him in. I did want to change my bottom two.

Re: The BANTAMWEIGHT game: *VOTE OPEN*
- The first law of boxing forums dictates that the shorter in size these fighters shrink, the shorter the forum squawkings of distress unless you are of a nationality where these fighters predominate. In which case buckets of blood flow.
And again, I prefer to recognize the full spectrum of time as much as possible understanding that I will by nature gravitate to those fighters I know best nearest to my era. I always check out the IBRO rankings for my reference point, yet must note they really dropped the ball with their bantys by including some great ancient names more noted for feather accomplishments as they ignored some great modern names who fought the greater fights in the banty division.
1. Eder Jofre, The Golden Bantam...on par with SRRobinson in their day.
2. Ruben Olivares-Remember the talk about him being the greatest in his day.
3. Panama Al Brown-Great name, great fighter.
4. Jimmy Barry-Little Tiger very underrated and forgotten, but not on this list.
5. Khaosai Galaxy-Out of this world fighter, 47-1, 41 KO with sole loss as a novice, thus undefeated as champion. 4 of my first 5 were never knocked out.
6. Orlando Canizales- Laredo's best ever? 17-0 banty title record, fought everywhere, impossible to beat in his full pomp.
7. Veeraphol Sahaprom- Fought everywhere, one of the best fighting Thais ever.
8. Rafael Marquez-By far the best pure boxer of the brothers. Had he his bro's chin, perhaps the best ever banty would have been in the cards, but #10 ain't shabby.
9. Fighting Harada- another great name, great fighter
10. Lionel Rose-Big Rose fan here. Beating Fighting Harada in Japan as good as it gets and only dethroned by an undefeated great, Olivares. Overcame some of the hardest obstacles in boxing history because of his Aborigine heritage. Yeah, blew up in weight and discipline to hang on too long, and so what?
Toshiaki Nishioka-honorable mention for a honorable fighter who fought monster Sahaprom 4X and in the mix for a long time. KOed in his first pro bout and his last against HOFer Donaire, but n'er tween those two could another fighter ever get to him.

Re: The BANTAMWEIGHT game: *VOTE OPEN*
McGovern made his name as a bantam but I think his best wins were at feather. I should have had Jimmy Barry instead of Veerapol

Re: The BANTAMWEIGHT game: *VOTE OPEN*
I try to judge based on fighting weights rather than whatever the titles were called for the turn of the century guys. So to me McGovern was a bantam up his beating of George Dixon (officially for a "Featherweight" title, but with both guys >118 lbs) in 1900 and never again afterwards meaning he was at the weight less than 3 years and just missed out for me too.Tomasino wrote:McGovern made his name as a bantam but I think his best wins were at feather. Jimmy Barry likewise looks like more of a flyweight to me (at least what I can make from his officially weighed bouts).

What's happening with the Flyweight class Crease?

Definitely, The Golden Bantam, the great Eder Jofre of Brazil, is the greatest bantamweight boxer ever!
