Not acknowledging the injury played a part?

I just read "Haye got the injury because Bellew knocked him down with punches"?

What effing planet are you from?

I'm no Haye apologist, he was performing well below what I expected tonight and only narrowly ahead when he picked up the injury.
He wasn't able to get Tony out early and credit to Bellew for still being competitive by the 6th round.
But if anyone thinks that win wasn't entirely down to an ankle injury they're wired to the bloody moon.
Christ, Haye couldn't walk and Bellew still couldn't get him out of there

So, a fighter would normally drag his leg around for 5 rounds and get it taped up to help with fitness issues ?
He had an injury, but not nearly as bad as people are making out, he was also just unfit and sloppy.

Ken Norton dragged his leg for 15 rounds every time! Tremendous banger to boot!

So I'm the idiot? Even though I was the one bigging Bellew up before the fight, while others were sneering at him for being worthless?

This forum is filled with utter dullards.

I saw a much slower, older version of Haye who got his way back into the fight and looked like he was going to go on and win it, only for his leg to completely go. I can't believe he was allowed to continue after that -he was barely able to stand, let alone defend himself. Time to retire, he is obviously at a stage now that he can't get through a training camp without a significant, fight altering injury. I felt very sorry for him there.

It wasn't.
Your hyperreality disorder is worrying. Same thing trump suffers from. Seeing something then saying the exact opposite as though it wasn't filmed and witnessed by millions
Didn't Horse once claim he was Boxrec's " Trump " ?

Well you're incapable of accepting that Haye's injury was key to the outcome of the fight. And that's because you backed Bellew. So, you're either an idiot, too emotionally invested or just plain cuckoo.

I think I know which boxes I would tick.

Hint: all three.

Bellew and Hearn should accept he beat someone who could barely walk., Bellew shud have been saying he was beating me easily and his leg went and I then beat a disabled man, so if David had just went down holding his leg and screaming when it went and the fight was stopped there and then , everyone would say
David was ahead at time but a
Injury so a rematch ? But because he boxed on through the pain barrier and Tony still couldn't get
Him out of there it all
Went to plan and we took him in the trenches lets get wilder ? This is madness

Bellew wasn't doing badly in the fight before the injury.

He may well have gone on to win anyway.

He was down 4-1 and wasn't looking likely of changing the flow of the fight, and he was struggling more with the pace.

He had lost near enough every round ? Maybe drew 1? He may well have went on to win that's one thing we will never know now , but the injury was a huge turning point

The rounds were hardly wide.

The outcome was very much unclear.

No, they weren't. Because Tony wasn't doing anything, David was managing to win them practically on work rate. What would have changed hadn't Haye got injured?

Exactly. To be fair he was doing better than I expected (I expected him to be flattened in three), but only from a survival point of view. Had a very good first round but that's the only round I gave him before Haye's injury.

Totally agree with the OP....

The injury could have been there from the start, but the whole fight was dictated by that injury and nothing else. Haye's timing was out through inactivity and was wild with his punches, but Bellew just sat back trying to avoid shots and make the odd counter. Haye was starting to cut the space a bit when his leg went completely in the 6th round, leaving him without any weaponry and virtually a sitting duck.

Yet it was presented as if Bellew beat Haye fair and square and knocked him out, which was laughable lol. Haye couldn't punch after the 6th and literally couldn't move and became a virtual punch bag. Yet all Bellew managed to do was punch himself out. Then it got all extremely weird at the end with Haye saying " the better man won " and i'm thinking " what are you on about david ". Then Bellew doesn't mention the injury either and claims victory as if it was all down to him lol.

Its the strangest set of interviews i think ive seen in boxing, where no acknowledgement was given as to the reason for the result. Haye's leg, knee, ankle etc completely gave way, rendering him totally useless and Bellew won because of it. Then you had Joshua acclaimed as the saviour of boxing, when he's had 18 fights and fought nobody of any note and Katie Taylor as the main undercard after having two pro fights and fighting an inferior fighter. It was all so cringy.

If that's the best they can offer up, then god help them lol, but at least don't try and insult the watching public's intelligence and try say it as it is, with some sense, logic, reason and truth. That was almost akin to the story about the emporers new clothes. It was bizzare to listen to. I think they should have got Carl Froch to do the latter interviews, not Joshua and Nelson, because they just didn't seem capable of calling it as it was. Farcical really lol.

I think Bellew still might have won without Haye's injury. We won't really know unless there's a rematch.

One thing I do believe, is that if Bellew had been injured in the same way then Haye would have got rid of him within one or two rounds. That's not to disrespect Bellew or anything - who deserves all the respect in the world for getting through the first few rounds and making this version of Haye miss most of his shots.

Tonight he was hammered by Bellew. Did he hurt his ankle , did he come into the fight carrying an injury - who cares that's his problem .

I once knocked out Muhammad Ali, you know.

Sure, he was 70 years old, had Parkinson's disease, was sitting in his chair not expecting it and looking the other way at the time but who cares - that's his problem. I did what I had to do.

The fight changed drastically as soon as he aggravated the leg in the 6th. Yes, he was sloppy before that, but was still winning and beginning to land more against someone who was mainly in survival mode.

His stamina never looked an issue, and Bellew was actually starting to blow when he couldn't get a one-legged Haye out of there.

I'm glad some people see it for what it was. I'm actually embarrassed by it all. It all seems very 1990's Germany for me. Sven Ottke beating a handpicked numpty with the pundits towing the line. Pathetic. Lost a lot of respect for a lot people tonight, Haye included.
