From a financial perspective he has earned a fortune but probably spends a larger one. Take last night and the £7m figure mentioned on here. That's £4M after tax and his wife might swallow a further £1m. The £3m left could yield you around 4% per year over a diversified portfolio of investments, so will give you £120k a year income or £80k after tax. Now £80k a year after tax sounds a great sum to a normal bloke but a guy like David probably has outgoing of four or five times that per year. When the boxing career ends you either need to start living a more normal life or like David you need to keep coming back to the honey pot.

I was told a while back that Haye kept his money in Cyprus as a tax Dodge ,his Mrs or mum is Turkish Cypriot and he boxed with the Cypriot flag on his shorts maybe it was in the Mrs name or the Cypriot bank just nicked it , just speculation but it would explain all the rumours of being skint
Booth is half Turkish Cypriot. Hayes mum is white English, his dad is from Jamaica I believe.

If that is his gross purse he wont bank even half of that net.
Tax (45%) trainer fees (generally 10% of the purse), training expenses, managemet fee etc...
I remember the aftermath of Tyson v Holyfield 2 and I recall that Tyson's gross purse was approx $30m and after all of the liabilities taken out of it was claimed that he banked only something like $3.5m.

Maybe his fake celebrity mates can help him out with a few quid and a loan of a yacht!

If he can remain un-injured that is entirely achievable, Bellew can't do anything better or different next time, a fully fit Haye can. Haye's a bit old to take a couple of years off, its sxxt or get off the pot for him and he really really needs Bellew now. I imagine he's smart enough to accept the shorter purse next time round, on the basis that he blasts out Bellew and can then crack on. I was wondering, even before the fight ended, if that was running through his mind. He was diplomacy itself during the interviews and readily conceded ground on financial terms, rematch location, etc.
His comments at the end reminded me of Mike Tyson virtually begging Lennox lewis for a rematch saying he would very much appreciate the payday, sad sight.
I agree. And his wild, unbalanced swings were redolent of busted flush 21st century Tyson.

Well if you average out ppv is £20
( they charge a lot more for pubs and casinos etc and most had it on )that's basically 14 million there , then a sold out 02, sponsership/ endorsements they would have made a fair whack overall .

the link with haye and north cyprus was adam booth, im led to believe adams old man is of turkish cypriot origin. lovely place to live, i now have property there too, some 15 mins from where haye had his gym and used to frequent acapulco beach club. hayes son cassius was born in TRNC. the interest rate on savings over there is 7%.... but im not advised that haye has a fortune there although he may still have property.
a large gym in dubai seems to have taken a chunk of his coin.

Hayemaker Gym Dubai wasn't it. Did it ever open?
He sold his old ring (not that one

Although I wouldn't bet against that either if he could get 500k PPV's). Sold his marital home. Had his card bounce.
Guaranteed to be on Celebrity Big Brother for £1million this year or next.

It would appear he is skint by the way he was sucking up to Bellew for a rematch.

that aspect of it was quite sad. Haye has always been the 'its my way or the high way' kind of guy. suddenly he needs the fellas he has trampled all over for the last dozen years or more.
funny thing life, all the people you tread on as you climb the ladder are the people whose arms you need to catch you as you fall.
for those discussing Hayes financial gain from this the bellew fight. remember as well as the purse money, he also coined it in as part of the promotion as it was a joint one.

Everybody here seems to be saying Haye's only desperate for the payday now. What they don't seem to quite grasp, is that Haye's a fighter. Through-and-through. Yes he can act a bit of a show poney, yes he can be a bit of a prat, but he's a genuine fighter. Right now, he's not thinking about the bank balance. His pride is shot to bits. Losing to Bellew after all the acrimony and knowing how easily he could beat him fully fit, must really hurt.

This !!!
Also per an earlier post regarding deductions from Hayes purse, there is no way Hayes trainer is on a percentage basis, you really think Haye would part with 700k to Shane ! They would have agreed a fixed rate , which given Shane had no part in the career development of Haye, seems fair enough for all involved.
I still don't quite understand the rumours of millions lost in Dubai for a gym that never even opened. Yes you can lose a bit on PR etc but if it never opened then surely the investment must have been miniminal?

That's why I think he will continue. He needs 1 more payday.
Check the facebook page for the Hayemaker Gym Dubai, especially the comments sections of locals that have not had a refund yet

Yup, I'm of similar thinking to you.
It's quite possible he also needs the money but he clearly wasn't fighting only for the money on Saturday night, otherwise he'd have ducked out after his achilles went in round 6. Why fight on with a severe injury if you're only there for the money?

Exactly. And he could easily stick to the celeb circuit and become a pundit (which he'd be very good at).

So he can get a rematch easier and nobody can say he bottled it like they have in the past.

im only guessing like we all are
but I would guess he gave his Mrs a HUGE payoff, and a final one... so all future earnings are his
banked £3m after tax etc on this one... £2m for next one... sail off into the sunset
his body is clearly ruined.... his timing was WAY off... probably got himself match fit, no real boxing training
he has got one fight left which is sellable, it will be Bellew again, and I actually think same will happen, maybe Bellew points

Yes, I suspect you're right in that.
