Should retire, as he said he's secured his future now financially & for his family, he's fit and healthy, fighting on would just be risking his health out of greed. Yes he could get even richer against wilder or whoever but he's risking his safety against big punching guys, and it's not like he's the most elusive boxer out there. It could all go wrong for him with one heavy shot.

Retire healthy and spend your days with the kids.

I bet you weren't saying that before Saturday. The point is that he was willing to go in against what he must have thought would be a fully fit Haye and so I don't see why, given the huge money that would be on offer, he would necessarily be too scared to face AJ or Wilder. Just for the record I think he'd get stopped by both but that would certainly have also been by far the most likely outcome against Haye as well had he not been injured.
Youre right i wasn't saying that but i had no idea of his condition. Saturday proved his body is broken after yet another injury, remember he retired from injury and we supposed to believe its healed. He looks a shell of the fighter he was 5 years ago. I thought he'd beat bomber simply because I don't rate Tony that highly. He failed in title bids at Light Heavy and I think he's the least impressive Cruiser champion out there.
I agree with everything you're saying on Haye but Bellew couldn't have known about his condition either. Anyway, it's ultimately up to him what he does but passing up a chance to earn £5m plus seems too good an opportunity to miss in my view. It's not like Bellew has multi-millions in the bank.
Bellew knew Haye was injured going into the fight that's where he got his confidence from. He knew that Haye had flown 4 times to Munich to receive treatment and that is why he kept telling Haye he was a broken man at the press conference.

I don't see him retiring just yet.

He could make millions in at least one more fight. His stock will be big after beating Haye. So he could rematch Haye, and make a lot of money. Or fight another big name heavyweight on PPV, coming off his Haye win.

Or he could go back down to Cruiser, use his name to sell a couple more Cruiserweight title defences.

He'll be back out at least one more time, in my opinion.

I'm sure the 0s on the end of the cheque Hearn will wave under his nose may change his mind. And why shouldn't it? He's managed to get himself into a position where he can earn special money.

Exactly and now that he's in that position why not take advantage of it. Bellew has earned very low purses the vast majority of his career I believe. It's only since the second Cleverly fight that he's started to do pretty well and he'd be mad to now turn it in when he has the chance to make multi-millions. As he said before the Haye fight "I've clocked the game, now it's time to get the bonus points".

The guys Joshua and wilder smashed to bits in their fights have recovered well enough. It's not like a death sentence for Boomer to go in with them.

5 million spondoolies will be mighty tempting. Dowse fists really would have fed de kids then.

Indeed and if one is being cynical I could well imagine a fight with AJ in which Hearn has a little word in AJ's ear and tells him not to do too much damage to Bellew.

It's nothing new a boxer claiming to retire after his biggest win. Means he has to be tempted out of retirement with a nice payday.

I agree with a lot of the other comments. No point going back to cruiser when he could earn as good of a living doing tv work. I think it has to be Wilder or nothing. They are both WBC champions and although Tony could suffer a nasty knockout, Wilder looks an accident waiting to happen. Will be reasonably well known in the states with the creed movie and haye fight. What a story if Bellew ended up a WBC heavyweight champion.

Not if it's causing too much of a strain on his family. He's obviously earned enough now for retirement to be a realistic option and at 33 with his health and faculties intact he'd be daft not to consider it.

He has options in and out of the ring and is in a very good position. For all he comes across a tit at times he seems a bright enough guy.

Personally I'd go for one more payday at heavyweight. The cruiserweight division isn't as lucrative and is deep with talent but you don't know what kind of strain fighting is putting on his family etc...

None. He's mentioned a few thousand times what a happy family man he is.

His Mrs isn't gonna be happy with him fighting forever though it's only natural. Now they've enough money in the bank his Mrs might just say 'enoughs enough' and if he's as happy a family man as he says and wants to keep it that way he'd do what his Mrs says. How much money do you need?

Personally I don't think he'll retire because he has options now but I could definitely understand if he decided to wrap it.

1. Fury/Wilder/Wladimir/Joshua/Parker/Povetkin/Briggs
2. Haye II
3. Huck/Briedis/Usyk/Gassiev
4. Retire or continue based on what happened in the other fights.

He could lose all three of those fights and still make good money for all of them.

I suspect he'll angle for the Haye rematch. They can sell it no problem. It depends how long Dave is going to be out for though, could be a year or more.

The size difference would be utterly farcical but Bellew wouldn't be in as much danger of getting seriously hurt given that Fury isn't a huge puncher. It'd be so one-sided though!
Fury not being a huge puncher would mean more danger of Bellew being hurt, not less

How much would a loss to someone like Wilder or Fury reduce interest in the Haye rematch?

If he fights Fury on his comeback, he has a reasonable chance of fighting a washed up, obese version of Fury and possibly picking up another unlikely victory.

He has zero chance against any version of Fury.

I disagree. I think he'd be in much more danger against a guy who could brutally KO him with one shot than against a guy who would basically just jab him silly.

It's saying 6-8 weeks for tendon repair on NHS website, but my friend snapped hers 18 months ago, and still can't run on it.

True. I don't suppose a loss to wilder would do his career any harm, there's always a risk he gets badly hurt though. Shite as wilder is, he can certainly punch.

Fury, god knows if he'll be seen in the ring again. I'd say even an obese Fury would just be too huge for Bellew to win. He'd have to slip a bloody long way.

Fury referred to him as Prices gay lover before so maybe he'll fancy a bit of retribution :OhYes:

That's for folk going back to work so you can't milk sick pay. 3-6 months is more like it for it to be functionally healed.

I imagine it depends on what the damage is, just swollen, torn or totally snapped.
