As a sophisticated consumer, I would read the second sausage stall's sign.... feel really hungry and then go to the first sausage stall and make my purchase there.tobyh5 wrote:What does W4rren do so wrong that there is no sizzle in his promotions? Jesus, he even has Floyd Mayweather in the UK and still it is a damp squib. Matchroom seem to make everything pop, explode and seem exciting.
People can talk about which one is putting on quality and which one should have the better following all day, but the reality is that they are salesman and I was once told a good salesman sells the sizzle not the sausage - meaning it is not what you are selling but how you package and sell it.
Best sausage ever made has this poster at an event - "Come to my stand and buy this sausage I have cooked"
Worst sausage in the world at same event has this poster - "World's greatest sausage, packed full of the freshest, meatiest ingredients and now being expertly cooked in our specially made griddle to be hot, sizzling and juicy".
W4rren just seems like a boring, monotone, whinging old dinosoar and his events are blue stripe Tesco Value compared to Matchrooms M&S finest food, and I say this really disliking the smug Hearn, they just seem to nail it. Hell if W4rren put on AJ v Klit, it would probably be in front of 9,000 at the Copperbox
I'm a similar manner I'll get pulled into excitement if so called 'big fights' Sky and media endlessly promote then go fishing, whilst keeping my allegedly subscription for the real meaty boxing matches.

The Hearns are good promoters. Their shows have a buzz. Look what they have done with the darts making it a big event when its just a pub game.
I've been to some FW shows and been sat around for ages between fights and the atmosphere has been as flat as a week old can of coke. Matchroom know how to keep the show moving.
Having said all that I think Sky have made a huge mistake in tieing themselves to one promoter as once you get beyond the hype the actual fight quality has gone way downhill on Sky Sports in the last couple of years.
I think the sport needs competition of rival promotional companies to keep the big players on their game.

Kugan and Helder are not Hearn's own crew, they still have a show on allegedly I believe and seem happy enough to interview anyone.coneye wrote:I think a lot has to do with the fact that alot of people got absolutly sick and tired of, mismatches , cancelations , pullouts , TBA fighters , record padding , ect ect ect , That they clammered for someone else to come and take over , when he did ( Hearn , ) He was like a breath of fresh air .. Regarding the thread itself, it seems that there is more hanging around waiting for the next fight on FW cards. Speed up the shows and actually use social media Frank, welcome to 2017.

Will be interesting to see the effect of the BT deal, there will be more people watching allegedly as getting it for free plus BT Sports will also be running more boxing which I presume will be of a high level & with Fwanks involvement.
This might be what he needs to get some attention & attract more boxers to him who have become disillusioned with Hearn.

Was gonna say the same thing,w4rren should of had his channel in with a virgin media bundle or something like that, that way at least it gets shown to some casuals who then pass the info onto more casualsILikeBeer wrote:Because nobody outside hardcore, post-on-internet fans have allegedly. If you're Warren, and you go; "Look at this cracking fight. It's only a channel that about three dozen people have, by the way...." It's not going to sound exciting to the masses, even if it is.

Wazza and BN use social media as much as anyone. Sky sports news is the only difference, and it's a big one.

He's started playing Sweet Caroline now like Matchroom which is annoying as I hate that song.
I wish they'd get the champions in the ring before fights like they used to. They could get the ex-champs to throw the sausages into the crowd. They'd be whipped up into a frenzy (as long as your missus didn't catch one from Kevin Mitchell).

I've actually met him a couple times and he was brand new. This was before he was exposed as a massive cock feeder though

Re: How does W4rren get it all so wrong?
The Matchroom shows seem generally better organised to me. A bit more consideration given to the punter. Presume they have some kind of event manager working with the venue to ensure things run smoothly. W&rrens shows seem to be far less organised. After going to BJS v Eubank at the Excel, I decided not to attend any more of his shows. It was a disgrace. I wrote to his office and they offered me a pair of free tickets to a future event which I never used. I think there are a lot of people in a similar situation to me.

Re: How does W4rren get it all so wrong?
I've actually found the opposite at shows I've attended live - Warren's shows move along at a very quick pace in terms of fights (albeit with plenty of floats/4 rounders filling the gaps), whereas Matchroom shows can have big gaps in ring action while they play loud music for a while.Shambles wrote:Kugan and Helder are not Hearn's own crew, they still have a show on allegedly I believe and seem happy enough to interview anyone.coneye wrote:I think a lot has to do with the fact that alot of people got absolutly sick and tired of, mismatches , cancelations , pullouts , TBA fighters , record padding , ect ect ect , That they clammered for someone else to come and take over , when he did ( Hearn , ) He was like a breath of fresh air .. I think at the moment it's just to do with his platform and the stable he has. Promoting seems to come in waves, one minute you have the best fighters and everyone is buzzing for your stable the next it's the other promoters stable, in this case because Hearn has the sky monopoly.
Frank has been in this game for a long time and he's been unfortunate to have so many drop outs on his bills. Once he strings a couple of exciting fights together and some big bills, with some big names (especially now he has the use of BT) he'll be back.

I wonder if BT Boxing can get a better commentator than Michael Owen(or the equivalent)
Re: How does W4rren get it all so wrong?
In terms of salesmanship Eddie has it nailed on. The whole Fight Pass membership is a prime example. Pay £29.95 for a years membership in order to get access to priority booking to events at face value. The potential to get some of the best and cheapest seats before general sale. Eddie Tweeting that tickets are shifting fast creating the illusion you’re going to miss out on something, even when you’re not, to generate panic buys. It’s pure manipulation. How often do we see those Tweets declaring "sold out in less than a hour" only to find hundreds, sometimes thousands of tickets available on their sponser StubHub's website the following day. It's also been suggested ticket touts have hundreds of "Fight Pass" accounts allowing them to hoover up large volumes of tickets early doors and sell them on for profit. So casual boxing fans who have seen the Tweets and messages about the event selling out in record time can't believe their luck when they see tickets available elsewhere for what must be a "must see event". If it wasn't why would people be snapping the tickets up so rabidly.tobyh5 wrote:What does W4rren do so wrong that there is no sizzle in his promotions? SKY Sports News is also a big factor. All the up coming shows get decent coverage including interviews with the fighters, interviews with Eddie, live press conferences, live weigh in's, other boxers discussing the fights with details of fight dates down the panel of the screen. Any other shows by any other promoters get little to no coverage. This no doubt creates the impression to casuals that if SKY aren't talking about a particular fight then it can't be worth watching. A massive plus for Eddie and selling his shows. SKY are helping him massively on the promotional front.
Give credit to Eddie where due. He knows how to dress up a show to make it look spectacular. Other than that his personal promotional efforts seem the norm. He Tweets a lot to raise public awareness of a fight, he pops up on Talk Sport to discuss his upcoming shows, uses his Daily Mail column to sell his shows, he puts on a good fight week programe to get local potential ticket buyers interested and gets the fighters involved interviews in the local press and on local radio.

Provided it doesn't completely fall apart, as is prone to happening.
From memory:
Calzaghe-Salem/Ashira, Lockett-Kairimaki, Maccarinelli-Heineken/Lamontagne/Gunn, Hatton-Michael Stewart.
Don't remember many good FW shows, apart from rarities like the Macca v Hobson I war undercard to Calzaghe-Lacy unification.
Unless, going way back, the cards that'd keep you awake for the big US cards like Judgement Night, in the late '90s.
Hearn does seem to take his stars to their potential although admittedly the shows themselves fail as spectacles. I went to two cracking fights Warrington v Amagasa and McDonnell v Vargas but the undercards were in no way good enough for the fights. A definite issue that needs working on.
Re: How does W4rren get it all so wrong?
You say the use it 'as much as anyone.' Hearn tweets and followers? 51.2k - 477k. Warren? 17.8k - 109k. So Hearn uses that platform more than three times as much and ends up with a far larger audience. Same with his fighters. Crolla genuinely has more than ten times the people following him on Twitter and has nearly ten times as much activity.mickey1975 wrote:They are all over FB and Twitter everyday. Re: How does W4rren get it all so wrong?
And even if they are, (Matchroom have over twice the 'likes' than FW) this shows the lack of understanding around this sort of thing. Twitter is instantly accessible, snappy, to the point. 'So and so has just tweeted' is a standard line in sports reporting. Not 'so and so stuck something on their Facebook page.'mickey1975 wrote:Is say FW and BN are more active on FB.dirk2686 wrote:You say the use it 'as much as anyone.'
