I feel sorry for the criticism Price gets, I don't remember him suggesting that he was going to be a world champion.
Like most huge guys, Cornish is another example, they don't seem to have the aggression, or 'badness' , in them which people seem to expect. When boxers have the 'bit between their teeth ' and come out determined to blast the other guy out, for having dared to enter the ring with them, they are usually very difficult to knock out. These type of fighters don't hesitate, and don't think too deeply about what might go wrong. They get on with it.
What Price needs is not super trainer, but a hard slap on the face before the first bell!

Yes, the only people who didn't realise that price was fragile were casuals or people who weren't paying attention.

That didn't mean he wasn't talented (look at his medals and belts) and at a certain level, he would destroy you. However, after a certain point where guys refused to be knocked out, he was always going to struggle.

Still, he has done more than most fighters.

Speakin to richie Woodhall in sanford airport florida 2012 he said wait till he gets hit on the button before getting excited about him,which i knew anyway. He also said he had seen him gettin dropoed a good few times in sparring with the big gloves on so its just a matter of time.

I don't think Joshua has a particularly weak chin but I agree with Mickey that Whyte isn't the biggest puncher of all time and he wobbled AJ.

Whyte was whacking Chisora like no-one's business but he didn't wobble quite like AJ did. Compare that to what Haye did to Delboy.

I think a motivated Wlad (whose own chin is underrated) should spark AJ.

AJ doesn't keep his chin tucked like Chisora though. If Chisora left his chin in the air like AJ does sometimes when Whyte was landing the same shots i think we would have seen a reaction.

On the subject of Price he has always been a fairly crappy technical boxer but seemed to have ungodly power. I remember the Skelton fight where he was roughed up and bulled against the ropes but all it took was a couple of landed punches to turn it all around. Same with McDermott, he was being outboxed for the short duration of the fight but whenever he landed it was devastating.
After his latest loss i had to YouTube his early fights to remember why there was any fuss at all about him back then. I realised he always pawed the jab or lacked accuracy but he was a lot faster back then and when he landed anything it tended to be all discombobulating.

Cut the guy some slack

Why do people always think AJ has a glass chin? What gives them this impression? Chisora was stopped by haye dropped twice by him stopped by fury but ppl still say he has a chin of steel. The art of boxing is to hit and not get hit so why do people wanna see AJ take shots,ppl get wobbled and dropped all the time this is boxing the guys are fightin in 8oz or 10oz gloves its gonna hurt when u get smacked on the button

I knew all about his knockdowns but I was still very excited about him. He looked a massive puncher and was as big as the Klits, who seemed unbeatable at the time. I thought he was the boxer with the best shot of physically standing up to Wlad and knocking him out.

Fury on the other hand... I thought he had limited boxing skills, was badly out of shape and would be badly exposed as soon as he stepped up.

Shows how much I know! However, with hindsight I can be an expert...

The abuse and shite he gets is terrible, if he quits today at least he's had a decent career he gave it a good go and fell short, why do people put him down so much

Judging by the amount of times he's been hurt and down in his entire boxing career he should retire. He's at Rick of getting badly hurt I think. You can't keep having your brain disconnected consistently

Well it's been proven repeated concussions massively increase your risk of permanent brain injury in later life.

The media train,they pumped him up and had us all believe he would be the one to take over at the top of the division also he didn't help himself either knockin every one out who entered the ring with him. Nice fella tho and says all the right things just a pity he wasnt blessed with as good a chin as the power in his hands

The key is how quickly you recover, survival instincts and coming out with the victory, you could even argue coming through a crisis at a lower level is a benefit for when you get in trouble in the deeper waters.

Calzaghe got put over a few times as well. That Byron Mitchell shot hit him like a hammer and Joe stopped him in the next round. Determination made of steel, and superlative anaerobic fitness Joe had.

Cammarelle was a seasoned article though, in fairness, and an enormous unit himself - and used to being on the front foot.

Does Price actually get that much shite?

All I read is, seems a lovely bloke but glass chin and is too easy to hit/doesn't utilise his size etc

It's not giving him shite, it's telling the truth isn't it?

He has achieved some great things but ultimately he was another overhyped heavy. Been hundreds before him and they'll be plenty more after he has retired.
