Exactly! That's why I threw Bazooka Quartey in the mix he has the best jab out of this entire crop! His jab could trouble anyone! Thurman would
lose on points to Quartey that jab would be working overtime timing Thurman's in & out style. Quartey would also beat Forrest on points the only
knock on Quartey's game is that he fades and gasses in the championship rounds!

I'd go for Robinson but what happened to Leonard on this list?
Casting my mind back to 1980 or thereabouts there really was a tournament of great and near great welterweights: We can look back with the benefit of hindsight but back then it was anyone's guess who was going to emerge as number one from Jose "Pipino" Cuevas, Roberto Duran, Carlos Palomino, Thomas Hearns. "Sugar" Ray Leonard, Wilfred Benitez ... feel like I forgot someone. The depth of talent was truly astounding.

A lot of depth in 90's too. Buddy mcgirt, meldrick Taylor, Fernando Vargas. I don't think Thurman measures up to any of that
Re: Welterweight Legends Tournament:Hearns/Trinidad/Mayweather/Thurman/Quartey/Forrest/Ray Robinson/Duran
-thurman would have mayor problems against athleticsm, such as floyd or sugar, they would outmove, outsmart, outslick thurman.
-quartey is b level compared to the other guys.
-duran to small, he simply aint a welterweight, he would have so much trouble with guys who have middleweight kind of physic come fight night like tito or heanrs.
-forrest was a powerful puncher with good stamina, tito and hearns are more powerful with even better stamina.
thurman, quartay, duran and forrest are the 4 worst out of the 8 mentioned.
-tito is a power house, he gets knocked down, but always come back stronger and has endless stamina and is always able to knock anybody out, but oscar showed that he hates somebody with excellent footwork, defensive notion and high technique, so a match up with floyd and sugar would be interresting. but on the other hand floyd at welterweight had mayor problems against maidana and ducked tall prime boxer like margarito and paul w. well prime tito at ww is a bigger problem than those guys
-hearns like tito is an atg puncher, tall, strong
-floyd would outsmart most opponents, but would find it hard to breath and take a break against high volume punchers withpower such as heanrs or tito, but on his a game he can do well. i still see him losing against both
-sugar is the best. he can knock you out, he can outsmart you, he can do everything, he aint called goat for no reason
1. sugar
2. tito
3. hearns
4. mayweather
5. thurman
6. forrest
7. duran
8. quartey

You joking. Did you see Duran vs Barkley. That fight was like at light heavy and Barkley wa 100x the fighter Thurman is.

A mate of mine wasn't called goat for no reason either. There again he had a tendency to be more than a little ... er ... "careless" with his headJip wrote:
