Ok so I had it 114-112 to Gonzalez. Caveat, one I have a massive hardon for Gonzalez, two, I marked four rounds on my card as 'close' and gave three of them to Gonzalez.
Personally I echo crusaders comment about Jacobs, that I think the Thai got a little too much credit for doing better than expected. An awful lot of his work when he was busy with his hands in the later rounds was being absorbed on the gloves and arms, i thought. I really liked his body punching early but it was notable, I thought, firstly that when they exchanged a lot earlier on, again Gonzalez seemed to land a better % and block more of the Thais shots. Also whilst the Thai was mauling forward and using his physical strength to push Gonzalez around in the earlier-middle rounds, he spent a lot of the later rounds backing up (though he did better than i thought he would from that stance)
Gonzalez i thought was magnificent to weather hat early pressure and come firing back, he way he can just keep the pressure on and exploit gaps in his opponents defence later in the round when they appear is great to watch. He managed to back up what was in my view a clearly stronger man, and he took some serious body shots to do so.
Really good fight

Didn't score it but felt like Gonzalez just edged it. You could tell that he's the more skilled of the two with the way he rolls and slips on the inside, but ultimately the significant size difference was causing him problems. Srisaket rarely stopped moving his hands, used his size and physicality to his advantage. I bet on the fight going the distance as Gonzalez isn't big at the weight but thought he'd have enough here. Huge credit to both fighters though, great fight.

Agree that Roman was definitely blocking a lot of Srisaket's shots. I wonder how much the combination of Srisaket moving his hands a lot and Gonzalez' face being covered in blood played on the minds of the judges. Even though the cut came from a headbutt it's easy for a judge to put 2 and 2 together and make 5.

Yeah there was a big difference in the power of the Thais shots early and late, they lacked that thumping quality of the earlier rounds.
Not a robbery though, too many close rounds for that 4 and 5 were definitely close i scored both to Roman but couldn't argue the other way

i think he had two cuts up past the hairline as well, not just the one at the side of the eye. was a great fight, i would pay to watch that every day of the week and twice at the weekends .

Outstanding contest. I wouldn't mind a rematch but I think that took a lot out of Gonzalez. Jamie Conlan noted yesterday how Gonzlaez was struggling to stand after the weigh in.
As for Sor Rungvisai what a win

MANY people considered Gonzlaez as number 1 p4p. Does this win alone make him the greatest fighter ever out of Thailand ? And one of the greatest out of Asia ? How many have beaten and taken the 0 of the regarded p4p number 1 and also out of the continent?
I'm not saying he is, because I am not that familiar with the history of boxing in Asia. It's just an phenomenal win

No, although it's a great win nonetheless. He'd be going some to be considered better than Veeraphol and Khaosai

Thought Roman won it, but he's clearly at the wrong weight, why the hell is he up at SF, can he not make fly? He's going to get killed moving up the weights like this, such a waste of a great talent, he should be not have to be facing bigger men all the time.

What a cracking fight, but for me the result was more about reminding people there are weight classes for a reason. Its great when fighters are able to move up but this just felt like a step too far for Gonzalez.

i think the lure of the inoue fight may have taken him higher than he would of liked, would of been better staying at fly or light fly and unifying the division

Think he really struggled to make flyweight near the end.
Also read Inoue may move up now :(

He doesn't look tight at 115, I don't see any reason he couldn't have campaigned at Fly.
I think the Inoue fight would be a real gamble at 115 and probably a daft move any higher

I had a feeling that Kazuto Ioka of Japan would have the beating of Gonzalez.
Hard, punch marathon fights with Francisco Rodriguez, Juan Estrada and Carlos Cuadras, and trading with bigger men have taken some toll on Gonzalez.
Felt that the accuracy and poise and the seasoning of Ioka, currently in his prime, would've been trouble for him at this stage.
Props to the Thai. Always looking out for the big performances and best fights but they seldom perform well outside of Asia. Very positive stuff.

Well that put's that theory to bed then.
Wouldn't have thought looking at his physique

Problems with weight making might not necessarily be due to him being big for the weight. Could be, as per reports Gonzalez had a bad camp, he just did the weight wrong. You can't put him next to either Cuadras or the Thai and say Gonzalez is big at 115lbs.

This was a bigger rip off than jacobs vs GGG,chocolatito won this fight and this is why boxing is losing its appeal, its a joke,if i was him id never box in new york again

I thought Chocolito won aswell.
Love to see him move back to fly. Credit to the man, its common knowledge he had a shocking camp but he didn't look for excuses. The reception he got back in Managua was a credit to the Nicaraguan people aswell

Will they have a rematch of their controversial fight of the year candidate?
Gonzalez need a bit of a break?

It was a mandatory so there wouldn't be a rematch clause. I think the new champ rematches cuadras and Roman fights the winner.

Just been reading up and the WBC are pushing for an immediate rematch due to head clash controversies and the scores not being announced after 4 and 8 rounds. And probably the controversial decision.
Think they want Roman back as champ to be honest.
Will be as glad to see this again as McDonnell v Solis. Rivalries are great and they can happen so unexpectedly. People figured the best fight would be a rematch with Cuadras or Estrada but life seldom follows the script...

Definitely it's harder for him to fight those bigger guys, especially when his style depends on outworking and backing up the other guy.
Really enjoyed his battle with Cuadras recently but it was strange to see such a bigger man in Cuadras moving away from a bloated smaller man.
Against the Thai it was a bit different, the bigger guy coming straight at him using his strength.
