Ha ha I have seen some topics and threads on here that dragged on and on, but if Smith won it would go nuts and probably break the internet!

Don Broadhurst hasn't been relevant for years,
Now Eddie Hearn wants to match him up against yafi for the wba world title
And Broadhurst ain't even got a ranking with the wba so what eddiehearn said all he has to do it's fight for one of the regional belts with the wba
He doesn't want to because he is world level and thinks he is above it. You can get wasters to fight for those toy belts but even then Gallagher and probably Hearn know there is a chance even a waster could beat him if it is a 12 round fight. That's why they want him to get this Zeuge fight without fighting anyone with a pulse.
I was told at the goodison park show he had issues against an Eastern European in a six rounder.

I don't think he has ever been rated higher than 30th in his division on Boxrec.

I don't really understand why though. Based on what I've seen from Zeuge, I'd give Smith a good chance of beating him. Smith seems high risk (in relation to Zeuge) and low reward. I'd also imagine that Smith asks for a bigger purse than I'd imagine Zeuge's other opponents would be asking for.
Why don't they just make Zeuge-Abraham? Atleast Sauerland own the rights to both fighters if Zeuge loses.
Going by the rankings on the WBA website, I'd say that pretty much all the ranked fighters are at least as dangerous as Smith. Zeuge is a young guy and I think Sauerland wants to develop him further before matching him with someone like AA.
In my opinion Zeuge is more EBU level than world level at the moment, but I'd expect him to outpoint Smith.

Hilarious!
I think he would make a good stepping stone for up and coming Brits, just before they go to world level. If you can get past him easily, then you have a decent chance to grab a title

KiwiRider have you been to the arena where Parker will fight Fury? My son lived in Auckland for a year and did a bit of sightseeing around the country in that time. He came back six months ago and I asked him about the place (which he knew of) but he hadn't been there to the actual venue although he went to see quite a few concerts etc in Auckland. He said the fight venue is actually a few miles out of the city?

Sorry mods, that last post was very off topic, thought I was in the Parker/Fury thread for some reason. Please delete or relocate post if need be

The venue is about 20 mins south of the city centre, but well inside the sprawl. Modern and well appointed but small by international standards. 12000 seats. Parker's biggest crowd so far is 15,500 I think. No way is he ready for the 90,000 well lubricated poms packing out the O2 if he was to face AJ

Nice and tight for Joseph then! Seems like a decent guy does Parker, he can make a few quid out of his WBO title and if he beats Fury and does have to face AJ and the UK masses then hopefully its another good pay day for him. My son will be rooting for JP as he loved his time in NZ and made some great friends down there, he came back a huge rugby fan too!

The only bonus, if any, is that it isn't an actual world title. amusing thing is the winner of Zeuge/Smith will get absolutely battered by Groves or Chudinov.
However, it's an absolute farce that Smith has found himself in this position for beating journeyman.

Whilst i do echo the sentiments... he did run Abraham very close in fight 1 and put a respectable showing in fight 2. Yes, I would like to see him with a EBU level win under his belt. Fighting someone like Rabrasse (spelling) would be good.
However, I can see why promoters go for him... he is a bit of a sellable name for prospects like Zeuge. Even though his conditioning ahead of the Ward fight wasn't the greatest - there a not many Brits who can say that they've sheared the ring with an ATG fighter at around the peak of his powers and this can also be used to make him a sellable name for World champions that are still learning.

Don't worry about the facts, if Smith happened to win the fight he would make Boomer (I am the best pound-for-pound Cruiserweight in the world) look a shy and retiring type .......

Paul Smith is domestic level at best and tbh he's probably past his best so this is a puzzler. I suppose you've got to take these opportunities if you're lucky enough to get them but I have to emphasise the word 'lucky' here because he certainly hasn't fought his way in to contention.
He reminds me of Brooklyn beckham always being put forward for opportunities by his dad, the scholarship at arsenal, the modelling, the photography and everytime it turns to turd...cos the kid just isn't up to it....same with paul pies n mash smith..the lad just isn't world level probably not even European level. But he's in with big man Adam Smith so is connected

I would put money on it that he would lose a wide decision against rebrasse has he ever beat a top 50 ranked opponent

His best win for me, although it wasn't a 10/12 rounder was against David Banks in the contender.... David Banks at the time was (for me) a geniune top 20 at Middleweight... with 2 wins of the then highly regarded Elvin Ayalia.

Ironically (serendipitously?) with the spelling error in the headline of this thread, this is the closest Smith should be associated with the word "title."

Although I watched it at the time I don't remember a lot of the contender and just scrolling through boxrec nothing on banks record would point to him being a work top 20 middleweight at the time a bit generous there I think, iv always though smith looked a bit loose at supermiddle makes you wonder if he could make middle with the discipline
