However cruiserweight. That has potential.

Super 6 with its flaws was the best thing that happened to boxing in recent times. Well before Joshua Klitschko I suppose.
. And Kessler Froch was a true classic. If they can line up top fighters, which is a big if, this will be a cracking tournament.

In hindsight it is easy to say Abraham is sh*t etc, but he was favourite going in, and even after the Ward and Dirrwll fights was still widely fancied to beat Froch. Both Dirrell and Ward were relatively unkown going in, but turned out to be elite and Ward one of the best ever at the weight. The super six gave us a series of match ups that was unheard of pre tournament and unheard of ever since. Bring on the WBSS, if they get the correct fighters signed up it should be another tournament for the ages!

The biggest problem with the Super Six was that it was 6. 6 isn't the best number for a tournament, so they had to have that weird group stage thing. 8 is a much better number as they can go straight for a knockout type tournament. Win and you progress, lose and you're out. Simple.

When you have a bunch of evenly matched fighters i'm all for the group stage. Getting all the top names to fight each other, one after the other, i cant imagine a better scenario?

I'm all for getting the best to fight the best as often as possible, but that format took away from the tournament as a whole. The concept of a tournament works best when the winner is clear in that he hasn't lost. Had Froch beaten Ward after previously losing to Kessler it would have felt like an anti-climax imo. Thankfully we had a winner in Ward that won every fight, otherwise the winner wouldn't have felt like an established #1 any more than he would have been a guy that won the right fights at the right time to walk away with the trophy.

I'm not overly concerned about having a clear winner, just seeing the best fight the best.
Look at the light heavyweight division . I just wanna see them fight one another. If we have a clear winner then great, if fighter A beats fighter B who beats fighter C who beats fighter A so be it: at least we'll get to see them.

I agree.
To much emphasis is put on fighters having no losses on their record. I could not give a monkeys if Mayweather is 49-0, or 47-2, i just want to see him fight the best at the right times.
Calzaghe and Froch comparison is a great example. Prime for prime i'd pick Calzaghe to beat him, but i have much more rewpect for Froch as a fighter and the career he had inside the ring, and he's the one with 2 losses on his record.

With a 50 million dollar bankroll and no promotional options they were bound too. The super 6, all in all, sucked. This has the potential to be great.

Think the draw is gonna be tasty. Top 4 as judged by the organisers picking their opponents from the remaining 4. Be plenty of needle.

Lebedev is back in action soon but I've heard a few rumours he hasn't fully recovered from the Gassiev war.
Think he's around 36/37 aswell so be interesting to see what shape he's in.
Been one of my favourite fighters the last few years Lebedev.
