My friends don't watch boxing anymore, but back in the day the casual fans just came for the party and event. I'd have to think that's typical as Floyd continually sold fights that he turned into cakewalks. I think a lot of the buys for may/PAC were former fans giving it a last try.

I think there will always be that "one last try". Boxing is such an unpredictable sport that intrigues and captures the imagination of the masses. Everyone can relate to a fight, whether you fear even the thought of one or can appreciate the skill behind one, and in some cases relish the prospect of having one.
It's a sport everyone understands too. Christ I've tried watching NFL - okay I understand the basic premise of carry the ball and run that way - but I'm completely lost with it.... "26, 25,18 hut hut" . Boxing strips right back to the most primal of competitive competition .

For as long as this forum is online fans will continue to pay for PPVs we know arent worth it and every now and then a McGreggor Mayweather or Tyson Etienne will come up and the world and his wife will be all over it

Buying the UFC cards has got me off boxing ppvs. That being said, I just dropped $80 on ggg.

Huge difference in UK to US too

We have maybe 4 / 5boxing PPVs a year, and theyre priced at $15 each.

UFC is on one of the channels you pay like $10 a month for - for $10 a month u get 3 sports channels each showing sport 24:7 it has some premier league soccer, all the UFC, Rugby etc

Yeah, I would love to pay that kind of money. You also get full cards. Ours are always 4 fights. Though I do prefer not watching at 3 or 4 am like you do. Our TV in general is brutal. I was happy getting my bill down from $280 to $155 and that's before taxes or ppv!

Not sure about US but in U.K. Some smart arse has hacked the boxes now. I paid $140 last June and for that I've had every channel PPV the works.

But yes 4am / 5am fights suck

I had a box for many years. I'm sure they're still around, but I wouldn't know where.

It was written tounge in cheek, BUT, if that fight takes place (and I personally hope it doesn't) the casual fight fans will be falling over one another in a frenzied stampede to book it. Naturally they'll get the pop corn and beers in fight night and be hugely disappointed.

Ive never seen a casual fan disappointed with a fight.

I sat in a bar full of casual fans for that fight and they were ALL disappointed. Here in Korea it was Sunday morning, so first-time
watchers (English teachers from USA, Canada, Australia, England) came in hung-over to check out boxing for the first time.
Ugh, what a sh*tty fight to be introduced to the sport with.
