I don't think a man's reproductive organs were meant to be walloped, hence a groin protector. I'm not a gynaecologist, but I'm pretty sure a woman's ovaries are also protected by said groin protector.

They're also protected by, you know, being inside a human body, unlike a pair of bollocks.

Another reason why women were probably better designed for boxing than men!

The human brain isn't 'designed' to take repeated trauma through blows to the head, either, if we were 'designed' for fighting we would look quite a lot different and have very different skeletons/ thicker skulls/smaller brains and god knows what else.

Not arsed if women want to box, but at the level it's at right now, I would compare it on a spectator sport level as the same as erm, women's football. Or badminton. It's just not good to watch right now, the standards need to be higher before it gets any sort of big push, but push it they will.

In what way will they push it?

One televised women's fight a month?

Adams is a far cry from Katie Taylor. She slaps and there looks to be little power in the shots.

Hope she makes a bucket load of cash though. Humble lass and from God's own county. Have at em Adams.

Taylor is better than Adams both different weights to start with and Taylor loves to mix it up. Adams fought Sofya Ochigava in the amateur and was beat easy enough but Taylor as beat her 3 times over the course. 2 different fighters these 2 lasses Taylor as got a big backing and will do well but Nic hasnt got the money behind her like Taylor as had and wont get the coverage and big slots on shows. You can expect action with Taylor but Nic is a defensive boxer and does not mix it up.

Male bodies are designed for reproduction as well to be fair.

And no bodies are designed for getting hit. You could argue that with less ability to generate power women's boxing is far safer for the participants than men's.
But they have softer minds.

What rot. Women are in my experience tougher mentally than men.

Fair play to any woman that wants to box but it's not really something I am too interested in

Perhaps it doesn't make you a mysoginist. Certainly makes you sexist though. Unless you don't want to watch men box either, of course.
total nonsense. id watch two lasses go at it in a bluey, but not two geezers - is that being sexist too? maybe you're such a feminazi whipped plank you'd sit there trying to stroke your little maggot into life in the name of equality, but it's not for me.

I am interested to see her how she boxes for a couple of fights. I don't think her style is that suited to the pro game though. Think still think that Katie Taylor & Clarissa Shields are going to be the faces of the Women's pro game on both sides of the water.

Listen, folks, again I say if women want to box ,fine go ahead.
How many people on here would watch a fight night when all contests involve women, and will we EVER see a female PPV bout.
The technique can be excellent, so fair play to the competitors, but I wouldn't part with a brass farthing to watch it, and neither would the general population, especially other women!

I'd watch the fights worth watching like I normally do with the men.

I'm pretty sure that there have been plenty of women's fights on PPV.

People who hold these opinions are brain washed sheep. Swept up in the mania of attaching 'ists and 'isms to any opinion they don't like. Do you know that if your sexual preference is that of your own race you're practicing "sexual racism"? (There genuinely are people out there who believe this.)

Imagine a grown man labelling another who enjoys boxing but not the female branch a "sexist." What if he doesn't like straw-weights much. Doesn't do it for him. Is he dwarfist too?

Possibly. If someone came on here claiming they didn't want to see men under a certain height or weight "beat each other senseless, assault each other, cut each other, render each other unconscious", I'd certainly wonder why not. A fight is a fight, who cares who it's between as long as both participants are willing and able. Why is it so bad to watch women beat each other senseless?

Sexism warriors know as well as the rest of us that women's sport just isn't that interesting. Sport at its finest is gladiatorial and feeds our need to watch a sanitized form of conflict. We don't see women as gladiators and thus don't enjoy in the same visceral way 2 girls going at it eyeballs out as we do 2 men.

The only women's sport that flourishes commercially as a separate entity from men's sport without a huge leg up via positive discrimination is tennis. Women tennis players tend to have lithe bodies, wear figure hugging micro dresses and have their hair and make up done as if they were attending the ambassador's ball.

Even your average liberal should be able to work out why women's tennis flourishes

Sport is all about "warriors" going into "battle" and fighting to the "death" for the "spoils of war".

Except it isn't.

Stop making sport seem so homoerotic.

It's just a game and women can do it too.

I suggest you retract that remark - the best Gladiators were women.

Back to the thread topic, what were you expecting her opponent to be like? Its a weak division & Adams is making her pro debut, this & the next few fights will just be knockovers designed to give her minimal experience but build up her confidence.

Personally I'm not a fan of women's boxing, but I enjoy watching women's MMA so not sure what that makes me.

Hopefully they switch women's boxing to 3 minutes a round. AIBA have started doing this already.
2 minute rounds always make fights feel low level IMO. No physical reason they can't do 3 mins.
The fact Wimbledon women tennis players want equal pay but only play 3 sets annoys me.
