The only type of "draw" that matters relates to the market that is funding the vast majority of the event, which is almost certainly going to be staged on US shores. So in terms of popularity in America, Canelo is the far bigger "draw" than Golovkin.

And here are some stats that will likely be discussed during the ongoing contract negotiations between GBP's Eric Gomez and K2's Tom Loeffler...

Canelo’s PPV Events:
• Floyd Mayweather Jr: PPV Buys = 2,200,000
• Shane Mosley: PPV Buys = 1,500,000 (the co-feature of the Mayweather-Cotto bout)
• Alfonso Gomez: PPV Buys = 1,250,000 (on the undercard of Mayweather-Ortiz)
• Miguel Cotto: PPV Buys = 900,000
• Amir Khan: PPV Buys = 600,000
• Alfredo Angulo: PPV Buys = 350,000
• Liam Smith: PPV Buys = 300,000
• Erislandy Lara: PPV Buys = 300,000

Golovkin’s PPV Events:
• David Lemieux = 150,000
• Daniel Jacobs = 170,000

US PPV totals
• Canelo = 4,650,000 (excl. the Shane Mosley & Alfonso Gomez fights)
• Golovkin = 320,000

Note:
The Golovkin-Brook bout was a PPV event in the UK, with Eddie Hearn conceding that it only drew 400K Sky Box Office buys, priced at $22.50 (currency conversion), which is the financial equivalent of 138,500 HBO PPV buys.

Here are the viewing figures for the only non-PPV HBO event that Canelo has competed in since the beginning of 2015:
• James Kirkland: TV views = 2,146,000

Here are the viewing figures of GGG’s non-PPV HBO events for the same period of time:
• Kell Brook = 907,000
• Dominic Wade = 1,325,000
• Willie Monroe Jr. = 1,300,000
• Martin Murray = 862,000

In terms of Mexican television, I’ve also read that Canelo attracted the following audiences:
• Liam Smith = 18,000,000
• Floyd Mayweather Jr. = 22,100,000
• Austin Trout = 15,000,000
• Shane Mosley = 26,000,000
• Matthew Hatton = 24,000,000

For the sake of completeness, here some more facts about the viewing figures for the five non-PPV fights that Canelo competed in up-to-and-including the 20th April, 2013 (when he was only between 20½ and 22½ years of age):
• Austin Trout: TV views = 1,100,000
• Josesito Lopez: TV views = 1,036,000
• Kermit Cintron: TV views = 1,469,000
• Ryan Rhodes: TV views = 1,550,000
• Matthew Hatton: TV views = 1,400,000

why bring mexican tv in to this and not asian, russian and european tv ?

and money wise im quite sure that the income made from tv in europe, asia and russia dwarfs whats made from mexican tv.
