He is not a bad guy. Ok, he growls, he looks like Mr Burns and he spouts some nauseating drivel, but he is harmless (not on the cobbles).

Read his book. You might get a different perspective. He loves his boxing.

There are a few other Smiths in boxing far more worthy of abuse.
