Reason i say that is they could fo huge numbers on the live gate. There are no big venues in vegas. Its more likely to ge vegas though because of casino money.
The Vegas gate would be bigger than any gate in Mexico. Here in Dallas if Jones has the itch to pay a big site fee you could probably do 100k at a huge gate. I'm sure Jerry world is the second choice behind TMobile.
T mobile is the biggest i think. However MGM will probably offer a huge site fee.
Mgm is TMobile as far as I know.

I think their styles will gel perfectly. GGG won't have to go looking for Canelo and Canelo likes it when his opponents walk towards him. It's a perfect blend imo. Golovkin will have a height (and reach?) advantage for a change so I think he could actually have a lot of success sitting behind his jab, but with his tendency to get drawn into a fight and judges' fondness of Canelo I think it'll end up in a tear up. A year ago I'd have picked Golovkin with confidence but now I'm not as sure, still leaning towards him though.

Does anyone else think Canelo needs a tune up fight beforehand?
JCC Jr was less than a mellow sparring session, certainly not a good preparation fight like the G-man had with Jacobs...

Only if they want an excuse to postpone for a headbutt or a tweaked ankle.

Owned by MGM, but different venue.

It's getting a very tired routine as Canelo beats up an endless stream of overmatched opponents - last night's fight was a nonevent, I watched two rounds then skipped to the end. Unless he takes the GGG fight next he is in danger of being remembered and as a paper tiger who ducked the real challenge.
And the thing is, he is looking a rock solid operator with a bullet-proof chin, giving him a very good chance against Golovkin.....if his camp grow balls enough to take the fight. Though I really hope GGG beats him, and he should be the favourite to do so, assuming there are no weight making shenanigans involved.
On the money.
I'm of the opinion that Golovkin has slipped a little, but I'm hoping that I'm wrong because I really want him to win.
It's shameful that Team Alvarez have steered him away from Golovkin when it was the most natural fight in the world for about 3 years now; it's even more galling when you consider that Canelo is the one fighter that would probably test Golovkin to the limit as well.

Alvarez has had 3 years worth of tune-ups for Golovkin.
He just needs to get his backside into the ring & fight Gennady now.

Heart says GGG, head says Canelo at this very moment. Like AJ/Klit, I reckon I'll flip flop 700 times between now and fight night. Speaking of which, I am desperately hoping there's an injury to one of them in training as I'm away that weekend with little to no chance of watching it, so if they wouldn't mind delaying it that would be great. Have waited this long anyway, so what's another month or two!

Praying it's in Vegas as I've already booked to go there

As mentioned on the HBO Boxing Podcast, it's worth noting Cowboys Stadium is available that weekend. Personally, I think it will be Vegas though and a very steep price.

Exactly, like Canelo needs another "tune up" !
Also I think it's easy to assume GGG is on the slide due to the incredibly hard fight he had with Jacobs...but styles make fights etc ( see Fury/Wlad/AJ ) and Jacobs might well prove a nightmare for Canelo too.

Firstly GGG is the one who's been my favourite fighter in the current generation.
Worth noting his age and the Miles on the clock. He's had a huge amateur career and a pro career were he's engaged in fan friendly tear ups. Taking one to land one.
GGG is not at his peak. His peak was probably 2-3 years ago and the Jacobs and Brook (to a lesser extent) proved he's slightly on the slide.
Golden Boy realise Canelo is hitting his prime and are taking a punt on GGG to be past his best enough for Canelo to pull through.
This fight should of happened 18months ago. It's 100% down to Golden Boy it's happening two years down the line.
I have a horrible feeling Canelo will win a close but deserved decision.

Has Canelo's chin been tested?

Talk is the fight was made back in may 2016 and agreed for September 2017 - true or not we can all agree it wasnt made and signed for in the 2/3 minutes following the announcement canelo had won on Saturday.
If it was made in May '16
Canelo fought
Khan
Smith
And a completely disinterested/ weight drained / disappointing Chavez
GGG fought
Brook (coming up two weight divisions)
Jacobs (many thought GGG got favourable nod on cards)
If the fight was made back in May '16 were either fighter going to be put in by their promoter with anyone who had a chance, barring a shock KO ?

GGG at least fought the next best guy at the weight--who would've had a better chance of beating him than DJ did?

Yes, safe to say he's got a very good chin, he's been in with some real hitters over last few years and never wobbled. There was an early clue when he was a very young prospect v Cotto's brother and got caught perfectly with a huge shot and was hurt, but he reacted perfectly, saw out the danger, cleared his head & came back to knock out his opponent. He looked like a real talent right there.

Thanks. Makes it very interesting. Despite his size advantage GGG probably can't walk through Canelo's punches (ala Brook) and possibly isn't as good a boxer. Late GGG stoppage or Canelo points win seems most likely?

Well I'd say Kirkland & Angulo hit hard enough to find out a fragile chin.

I thought Floyd was gonna stop him at one point. He wasn't overly hurt but he was getting tagged clean anytime he tried anything and looked like he was about to call it a day a couple of times. Obviously he ended up seeing it through but it makes you wonder what'll happen if GGG is landing clean all night with his power?

Yeah safe to say he's never faced a hitter like GG, and no way he wants to be getting steadily caught by a puncher like that - Alvarez looks strong as a bull though, it's gonna be very interesting.
GG might be past his very best, but Duran probably was too, when he finally got his super fight against Leonard ...but he found new levels when faced with his defining fight, and Golovkin might too.
Wonder how bookies will read it ...GG slight fav maybe

Hope B0xnati0n/BT get it. Surely not big enough for PPV here though.
