It's infinitely better than last year already no doubt.

My favorite years as a Boxing fan have been 2003 and 2005. I look forward to seeing years when those can be topped, but because these years were some of my earliest years of Boxing fandom they'll always have a special place for me.

2003 was especially awesome to me because we got 4 amazing FOTY candidate kinda fights right in in 3 consecutive months.

Like i said before. I think a lot of people have the nostalgia glasses on. Hardly anyone can name me a year better than 2017

2000 and 1989, no doubt these years were better than 2017 i get it. But lets not forget, also in the glory past very important fights werent made. Jones not boxing michalchewski. Floyd not boxing casamayor or tszyu. Tyson against bowe or moorer didnt happen. Toney against eubank or benn. So please lets not pretend that everything was easy & uncomplicated in the 80 and 90.

An interesting way of revealing how much stronger the depth and talent in boxing was back in the years saad mentioned is to take any given year lets say 1990 which was a strong year for fights made ( tyson-anddouglas,cooney-foreman,taylor-chavez ,benn v barkley for starters) and look at the fights that could have been made but werent made in many cases these fights were never made

That's one of the reasons why the game has declined and while 2017 is a great year, won't be the best year because in the past, fewer belts left very few questions unanswered.
