Round-By-Round - Tyron Zeuge vs. Paul Smith - June 17th 2017
Re: Tyron Zeuge vs. Paul Smith - June 17th 2017
Paul Smith Currently ranked 7th in the UK Super middleweight rankings.
Paul Smith last 3 fights:
Daniel Regi - Ranked 198th
Bartlomiej Grafka - Ranked 363rd
Bronislav Kubin - Ranked 804th.
How on earth does the above now qualify him for a World title shot? Has someone pulled a fast one somewhere!!!!!

Re: Tyron Zeuge vs. Paul Smith - June 17th 2017
Smith wasn't even in the rankings and as soon as the fight with Zeuge was mentioned he mysteriously found himself in contention despite doing fukk all to merit it. The WBA president was asked about it and couldn't give an answer. I think there were some petitions going about to have the fight stopped and Fast Car had a little bitch fit rant about it because apparently we as fans haven't to ask questions and just sit and munch the shít he's feeding us like good little fans.wadey wrote:Paul Smith Currently ranked 7th in the UK Super middleweight rankings.

Nothing surprises me in the sport anymore.

When Smiff wins lets you and I get matching tattoos of his face on our backs.Stuarty30 wrote:Still, IF he does win I refuse to recognise him as a legitimate world champion. He's utter dire. I hope Zeuge chins him. It'll be interesting to see how Smith does the weight.Ruthless-RKO wrote:Unfortunately, the regular strap counts as a world title I believe.. All WBA's fault.. Probably. It isn't really a proper world title to be fair. It's the WBA normal(ish) proper(ish) title. Even still, I can't stick the thought of him winning a world strap. Hopefully Zeuge chins him and he retires.
Or matching tattoos of his back on our face.
Either one works for me.

He doesn't do anything particularly good, but is okay in most areas. I'd say he's more of an EBU level fighter than a genuine world class one, and I'd expect people like Jack, Groves, Degale, Benavidez, and C. Smith to beat him pretty handily.boxingknockout wrote:Has anyone seen Zeuge fight? Is he any good?
The draw with De Carolis gives an idea of where he's at. He improved for the rematch, but then looked pretty basic after that against a fringe-contending Nigerian who probably isn't much better (if at all) than our boy Paul.

Zeuge should be the favourite and I'm expecting him to win, but it wouldn't shock me if Smith pulled it off.

I'd rather let SuBo dry ride me with a 10 inch strap on bludTaansend wrote:When Smiff wins lets you and I get matching tattoos of his face on our backs.Stuarty30 wrote:Still, IF he does win I refuse to recognise him as a legitimate world champion. I think Zeuge has improved to be honest, his punching power has certainly improved and with both hands.Infact even though he is an orthodox fighter his left hand has become pretty dangerous. He had De Carolis hurt 5 or 6 times in the second fight. He is a solid body puncher aswell as shown with De Carolis where he broke him down and hurt him to the body plenty times then smelt him fading late on and got him in the corner and finished him.I can see him working Smiggas mid section and stopping him around half way mark.

The Paul Smith hate is so fornicating boring, I hope he wins.
Re: Tyron Zeuge vs. Paul Smith - June 17th 2017
How the hell can someone fight for a "world title" when in his last 10 fights 4 have losing records and you lose 3 of the last 6 fights? Its a joke and how do the smiths have so much power in british boxing?
Re: Tyron Zeuge vs. Paul Smith - June 17th 2017
My view on this is, is okay it is not deserved but it is happening. So lets get over it.
There have probably British fighters who have been as less deserving as Smith but without this condemnation. Its not as is he is a club fighter, he showed in 24 rounds with Abraham that he can hang with that level of opposition. Gary Lockett's three fights before Pavlik wasn't exactly top draw.... but certainly not the criticism, Howard Clarke another.
Smith has certainly polarised opinion possibly based on his online presence on here.... but I would prefer to read the "told ya so's" after the fight. I can envisage a retirment speech win or lose vs Zeuge anyway.

To Smith it is! You better believe it!handsofstone wrote:I actually think this might be a decent fight, its not a world title fight so I wont get my knickers in a twist, both guys are at different stages of their careers but both at a similar level i'd say, Smith for all the baggage and hatred he brings did actually give Abraham a tough fight in their first scrap so isn't as bad as some might think, I thought he nicked the fight TBH but it was close
Zeuge isn't anything special but he's tough, strong and aggressive, he isn't a massive KO puncher but his shots do carry weight and if he can target Smith's body then I reckon that's the way he's most likely to get him out of there, its a tall order for Smith to win a decision so he's got to break Zeuge down and use his experience and not allow Zeuge to get comfortable
I remember Zeuge getting a gift of a draw in his first fight with De Carolis recently so Smith really has to look good if he's to be in with a shout

The fume on social media is making me want to bet on Smith stoppage at 10/1. He wouldn't be the first undeserved challenger to win a world title (Gavin Rees says Hi) but I think he might 'justify' the ranking by winning. T

x2. Yes the title opportunity is undeserved but you can't hold it against him for accepting it. Yes it's for a crap title but you can't hold it against him for going ahead anyway, its the best opportunity he'll get.emallini wrote:The Paul Smith hate is so effing boring, I hope he wins.
Paul Smith has faced Andre Ward, Abrahams twice - all on away soil - as well as DeGale and Groves. You can't question his heart, he gets in the ring with these top fighters and gives his best. I accept he's not beaten good class opposition to get another world title opportunity but in this age of multiple world champions, some fighters do get second and third bites of the cherry and thanks to his promoter, Smith has Sky behind him to pay for the rights to UK coverage. It's appalling to learn that apparently the WBA will rank a fighter on demand, but Smith hasn't made up that rule, nor does he control Sky TV. This will be his last big opportunity and I wish him well
