that's why it's so puzzling, he isn't fighting Joshua so even a Heavyweight fight can't deliver as much money as this tournament.Tomasino wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:To fight whom? Adamek?Tomasino wrote:

eff knows who but if he's talking about money opportunities outside of the tourney then what's his options? He should join up.

Kudryashov confirmed today:
For the Cruiserweight we have 7 confirmed participants and still one vacant spot:
Usyk
Gassiev
Briedis
Dorticos
Kudryashov
Huck
Włodarczyk
The last vacant spot in the tournament will most likely be filled by Glowacki, but there have been some rumours that Lebedev is also considering joining.

there are also rumours about Mike Perez but i hope he´ll not join as he had only 1 fight at CW against a bum so he does not deserve to participate there.klitoris wrote:Kudryashov confirmed today:

They're going to have alternates on the undercards. That's a good spot for Perez.

Like who?
Matty Askin
There are no UK cruisers who could really mix in that company

Callum Smith Joins World Boxing Super Series
As the WBC number 1, Smith will fight for the WBC Diamond Championship in his quarter-final match-up, with his opponent to be determined during the Draft Gala on Saturday night in Monaco.
”I am thrilled to participate in the World Boxing Super Series, the Champions League of boxing,” Smith said. “What an honour it will be to fight for the WBC Diamond Championship in the quarter-final. But there is so much more at stake than just one belt - the Muhammad Ali Trophy as well as a potential domestic showdown with George Groves in the final. This tournament is very exciting for boxing and I am thrilled to be a part of it. I look forward to travelling to Monaco for the Draft Gala on Saturday and find out who my opponent will be."

WBC Provides Diamond Belts For World Boxing Super Series
WBC Provides Diamond Belts For World Boxing Super Series
The World Boxing Council (WBC) will honour the World Boxing Super Series by awarding its prestigious WBC Diamond Belt for both the Cruiserweight as well as the Super-Middleweight tournament. As of today, the inaugural season of the revolutionary bracket-style elimination tournament already features five world champions and three former champions as well as three rising contenders, which has led to an outcry of media and fan approval.
The WBC Diamond Championship has been created as an honorary championship for the winner of a historic fight between two elite boxers, such as the blockbuster between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

"This tournament is all about the best fighting the best," said WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman. "There will be no easy fight and whoever wins will clearly be recognised as one of the most extraordinary and elite boxer in the sport. Hence, we are proud to put the WBC Diamond Championship on the line, which marks the biggest honour the WBC can grant. The WBC is proud to support and fully embrace the tournament and we look forward to a terrific start at the Gala in Monte Carlo on July 8, joining the greatest icon in boxing Muhammad ALI as the inspiration to all participants."
Roberto Dalmiglio, Comosa`s Head of Management Board, is delighted that the revolutionary bracket-style elimination tournament has been received so well by federations, fans and fighters. "We are thrilled that the WBC honours the tournament with the Diamond Championship, their biggest prize. We´re in for a lot of exciting fights and this is a real honour. We look forward to also working closely together with WBC and its President in order to bring the sport forward inside and outside the ring.”

Usyk has first pick, but you know what.. it's not an easy pick either., Huck or Wlod.. former champions that are most likely past it are the best options.ldlamb wrote:Ok...I'll take a guess

Re: **Update**: World Boxing Super Series
If I were Usyk I'd pick Wlod
Kud is probably the most limited, but his power makes him dangerous and his name doesn't look particularly good on a resume. Perez is an unknown at CW, but based on his HW showings I think he has the potential to be a threat. Huck and Wlod are similar, in that they are former champs who have been players in the division for 10+ years, but it's been longer since Wlod was competitive at top level.

Re: **Update**: World Boxing Super Series
Glowacki should be the 4th seed. Puzzling that he's relegated to alternate status, beneath an opponent he recently ko'd no less and others who aren't as relevant/proven and others still simply shopworn. Bizarre, but eh, nothing's perfect.
