I recall reading about his early fights in 1985-86 in the Daily Express. There was also a big spread on him in the NOTW Sunday magazine shortly before he challenged Berbick. As far as UK TV is concerned, ITV picked up the Mitch Green fight in May 1986 (delayed Saturday afternoon coverage introduced by Dickie Davies) and later showed highlights of his fights with Gross, Frazier, Ribalta and Ratliff. ITV went on to cover his title reign – bar the first Bruno fight – all the way through to the Carl Williams KO. There was definitely a magic about Tyson in those days and his fights generated unrivalled anticipation and excitement.
