Somebody give the kid a break - Smigga has never asked (or been) given any favours in what is the toughest of sports.

After being a full-time amateur (winning Commonwealth Games Silver), he had a mere 5 years as a full-time pro, reaching 23-0 against top level opposition before he was thrown to the wolves against future Hall of Famer Steve Bendall.

Good management saw Smith not to seek a rematch against his nemesis, and instead he decided to climb the rankings taking on all-comers.

He would run the streets of his beloved city of Liverpool, the original fighting city, living a Spartan existence - carrying his nans shopping every Thursday before working all hours as a DJ in the cities clubs - providing invaluable experience of choosing ring-walk music for his PPV fights.

Yet again he was stitched up by the overseas judges - what does this lad have to do to win a world title that he so richly deserves?

Hopefully Camp Eddie will come up with another title shot - maybe an IBO version or something similar?

On second thoughts - Luca, I know that you still frequent this forum, why not offer Smigga the chance of becoming the first inaugural World MBC champion? - you know it makes sense!

I'm going to be fair on Smith because the abuse he got for taking the fight was uncalled. However, Zuege is a weak champion in that division. Zeuge will not beat DeGale or Groves. Callum Smith, should he come through for the WBC belt against Dirrell would be too much for him. Not sure about Ramirez as I have not seen him fight but shutting out Abraham, would make me lean towards him if the two fought.

I don't want to see Smith in anymore in World title fights unless he beats someone of note before on the way. The only fight at the moment I would like to see him in is a fight against Rocky Fielding.

I wonder if he will drop to British level again now or just quit? There's got to be a couple of £100k paydays at British level for him which he might be tempted by.

If/when he lost against a British level guy I'd expect him to come out with half arsed excuses like 'I couldn't get up for it, I'm not motivated blah blah, I belong at woooorld level'. He's been conning a carrer for the last few years now, nnot even top 10 British at the weight arguably anymore. Agree the Fielding fight has some appeal as a good undercard to a main event, but apart from that he's done.

This forum will actually be a sadder place when Smigga stops getting his contracted world title shots. We all love seeing him getting a good hiding. Only his nan likes him.

Looking at Smigga's physique and his trainers expanding waistline, I would suggest that the Tesco Value range has had a severe hit recently.

Due to the fact he won the 'Who can hit the bag hardest' competition on The Contender® Series 1 in 2007, I believe that Smith has the perfect credentials to beat Ward or Kovalev. He's proven at the top level, that bag didn't stand a chance. I've also heard rumours he can hit a score of 1,280 on the punching machine in Ibiza.

Smigga is back in Ibiza on Stephens stag do. He's broke four machines already.
