Plus there's been a lot of rules changes. How can you compare a 12 round fighter, to a 15 round fighter to a 20 round fighter?jas80s wrote:I'll never understand why a great fighter can't simply be another great fighter in a long line, why does one great fighter HAVE to be so much better than another obviously great fighter? One thing you can't deny, we will never know how they stack up, guys who fought fifty years apart don't ever meet in the ring, which only makes the arguments more amusing.
Noticed how humble and appreciative is GGG, maybe it's because of his poor english ?

He just has a normal civilised way of behaving. It aint all top fighters that goes around acting like damn abes. Seems like a lot of you in here have customized to accept the laughable and embarressing behavior from most us top fighters. Let me brake it to you. It aint normal in the rest of the world. If ward, gayfeather etc. was lets say chineese, european, russian or what ever, their way of behaving would be embarressing to the entire nation and they would be laughed at in all eternity.
True post. Boxers here used to be good sportsmen too. I think all this unsportsmanlike conduct in boxing started with Cassius Clay who's now supposed to be some kind of big hero. Clay himself said he patterned his a-hole act after Gorgeous George the wrestler.

I've heard a number of his interviews in Russian, it's the same...no smack talk, etc..apollo creed wrote:He's always praising his opponent and doesn't talk smack and I wonder if it's because his english skills are limited or he's very appreciative to what he achieved in life and he doesn't want to annoy people from various reasons ?

Golovkin's English is not good. I've known several people that have obtained a greater command of a new language within a 12 month period.
I guess the Kazakh can't be good at everything, but it's a shame he isn't better at English, because it would have probably doubled his PPV buys.
I'm surprised that K2 haven't forced Golovkin to learn the language, because that vast majority of his fan base, those that actually pay his wages are English speakers... and it disappoints me that he hasn't made more of an effort in this area.
It's hard to convey humour or intrigue people if you're struggling immensely to articulate rather simple sentences.

I like GGG but his english is pathetic. How long has he been living in New York now? Canelo can get away with speaking spanish but I'd have thought GGG would at least try and get to Kovalev's level of english (not great either but has a wider vocabulary than "big", "clown", "boxing", "story")

Yeah GGG's english is poor but I think it's more about the adaptability and how much you like a certain language. For ex. I think GGG speaks much better german than english.

I think that 3G's English is relatively decent. Any of you try learning Russian?
I suppose people might dislike 3G due to the over exuberance of a certain segment of his fanbase over the years, but you have to be an unmitigated asshole not to like the man himself.
