Was planning to go to the originally scheduled Fury/Parker fight (had travel sorted getting from the South Island up to Auckland in the North Island) in May but obviously the Fury camp pulled out last minute & kept everyone in the dark.
As a result, as interested as I am in buying travel/accommodation for Manchester, I'm wary about committing to it - fool me once & all that. If I do go, I won't be buying anything until very late on.
Whyte is in the wings if Huey is a no show so Parker will fight regardless.
Absolutely zero chance Whyte will replace Hughie on this date.
Different promoters and Hennessey hates Hearn as well. I can see Parkr fighting Bellew or Whyte in the uk later in the year. All depending when the Hughie fight gets cancelled.

I think Parkers team come over here being sold on Uk boxing booming assuming big crowds for everything. Hennessy has never done a big show here probably since say froch fought Pascal maybe ??
Anyway I'm glad they met Hearn because he will have set them straight on how boxing works over here.
Everything discussed on the forum about this fight not happening because of a lack of fanbase etc etc Hearn will have told Parkers team.
I quite like Joe he doesn't deserve to get messed about.

Thing is Tyson was never a big seller anyway. Which is a bit odd because love him or hate him he was a personality.
The Wlad rematch was a disaster on ticket sales ( I would say around 6000 going off the seat map before it was pulled for the final time) but that was mainly down to mental prices twice as much Frampton v Quigg which sold out in an hour. I was hoping for the city to support their lineal heavyweight champion but was not meant to be and the prices didn't exactly encourage.
The Chisora rematch was selling bad and that wasn't as expensive. This is the one when Delboy pulled out a few days before then Ustinov come in for Tyson fury to pull out ON THE DAY of the fight because his uncle who used to train him became seriously ill and sadly passed away a few months later.
I remember years ago Mick not being impressed at sales for his fight with Pavjic at event city ( next to the Trafford centre). Tyson himself said a few years back he was jealous of David Price because he had an entire city backing him.

Tyson's time to capitalise was when he beat Klitschko - you become the undisputed Heavyweight Champ of the World - with the right team around you are on TV for weeks - endorsements pouring through the door - He's been so badly managed it's untrue and also through his own stupidity.
You can imagine if Fury was with Matchroom how big a star he'd be with Sky backing and some brains behind the outfit.
That's not to say he's not made a lot of money but he became "The Man" beating Wlad and literally threw it away.

The problem with capitalising after the Klitschko fight was that the fight was rubbish. Nobody wanted to watch it again and Tyson's highlight reel is garbage. You can talk the talk but if your fights are boring you're onto a loser.
Hughie is just as dull in the ring and even more anonymous out of it. The booking of Manchester Arena is mystifying.

Only Tyson knows how much money he has made and still has. I hope it's enough. There's a fortune in a Joshua fight though, it's the biggest fight for either of them. It'll almost certainly happen, why wouldn't it.

There are some decent Manc fighters with a rabid fan base to help fill seats.
I'm going to be optimistic and wait for the undercard because as mentioned, the main event is not going to fill the house.

It's not a 'big' fight, but I believe it will be a pretty even fight.
Early days yet. No full card released.
Manc has a lot of boxing fans, and two Furys is a draw.
£1 pints will fill the nose bleed seats
Pints in the arena most definitely won't be a pound mate

I know what you are saying KW, but who are these fighters?
I just think it's going to bomb and get pulled.

Parker fans should use that as an anti-Fury chant - "You're just a big Matthew Hatton! Big Matthew Haaaatton! You're just a big Matthew Haaattton!' etc

Yes it will be a hard sell as Huey isn't a puncher so it will go the distance and be a closeish result on points. The Fury's can box but cant bang which is why they will never attract the casuals like AJ.

I'm surprised to see they sell so slow (assuming it's true), despite it's summer holiday and such. This is a seriously interesting fight and it will influence next year strongly.

Arena shows sell on hype. There's no hype. None.

If Fury pulls out and they put in a replacement would people who have bought tickets get the option for a refund or not?

Don't think so.boxing is one of the only sports where you can end up watching something completely different from what you paid for.

Its going to be a good crowd but it will be hard to sell out the arena in Manchester. Would have been an easier sell if they let Tyson Fury say what he wanted to drum up more interest in his return fight.
As much as it would pull attention away from Parker Vs. Fury, it would make it easier to sell because of who he is and how much attention he can grab with his antics or just by letting him say what he wants.
Love him or hate him people will pay to see Tyson Fury fight. Hughie Fury on the other hand is the polar opposite, he's not a big talker but he can fight. With the fight happening in Manchester as well you can't rely on Parker's home fans to make the journey to fill the stands, the hard-core followers will be interested to see how he does away from New Zealand and how he fights compared to Joshua and Wilder.
But for the everyday person he's just another heavy-weight, that is if people have heard of him, despite being one of the most promising at heavyweight alongside Joshua right now.

In bulk, they never have. The Wlad rematch sold pathetically and he's never fought since.

It's not suprising after the first fight , would people really want to sit through that again ?

Quote of the year, made me laugh out loud!! In fairness magical Matty was a tough old boy but he did rather ride on the coat tails...
Lots of insiders say hughie is very good but I'm yet to be convinced. And whilst I know the bookies odds mainly only reflect a market where casuals lump on to the big man, to give some context AJ is currently 25-1 on to beat Parker should they fight soon.... And yet parker is their narrow favourite to beat Hughie.....

On one hand you have Parker, a moderately exciting unbeaten untested vs top level heavyweight, from a country traditionally not a big player in boxing
Then you have Fury who has a section of the fury die hards, though if he weren't tysons cousin I'm not sure he'd have many fans
In days gone by it wouldn't be a bad ranking fight to see who could go on to have a shot, now it's a title fight.
It's a fairly hard sell

This could sell quite well ticket wise if it was promoted by Sky.... I can see Sky using their other British fighters - Joshua, Whyte, Chisora to sell the British angle.... Gloves are off, heavyweights 2 with the 4 of them (and perhaps Tyson) going for it. Need to get Tyson mouth to sell it also.
I don't know the numbers, but I thought ITV did a grand job in selling Eubank's IBO title fight... he was on the ITV news and everything.... tis time it was a pretty poor effort by them.... if it is on ITV box office, then they need it showcased on the main stream news.
The more publicity it gets on the TV the better the ticket sales.
