With the Groves and Cox presser happening in London I was expecting Uk TV to be confirmed today.

These fights are too good to not be televised, it would be a real shame for boxing fans. I think it's a good opportunity to put some £10 PPVs out, each of them would probably do ok, but I think they might get greedy and want more. Be excellent if they did some free, some PPV, but the promoters have spent big on this tournament so I assume they're going to go down the PPV route.

If it's ITV I'd expect the whole cruiserweight tournament to be free to air due to the lack of Brits in it. In terms of the super middleweight side of things it'll probably be a combination of free to air and PPV. Callum Smith fights on 16th September, Chris Eubank on the 7th October and George Groves on 14th October. Can't see ITV doing PPV for all of these shows, it'd be 3 PPV's in 4 weeks! You've also got a couple of significant clashes in terms of boxing fixtures. Callum Smith Vs. Erik Skoglund is on the same night as Billy Joe Saunders Vs. Willie Munroe Jr. and Canelo Vs. Golovkin. Chris Eubank Jr. Vs. Avni Yildirim is on the same night as Anthony Crolla Vs. Ricky Burns. If I had to guess I'd say Groves Vs. Cox will be PPV.

Can you really see the Eubanks taking a step back & not being seen as a PPV fighter? Plus the audience they'll be going after won't even know who Crolla or Burns are!! I reckon that & Groves/Cox will be on PPV if shown on ITV.

I love the concept but have concerns it's going to be a disaster.

The way they are selling the rights may hold them back. You've got to buy both tournaments meaning 14 fight nights over 8 months. Are HBO or Showtime likely to pick this up in America? It's becoming very clear that the tournament is unlikely to be picked up by SKY Sports in the UK even though Eddie Hearn has 3 fighters in the tournament. How much interest does this tournament really have outwith Europe? 13 of the 16 fighters are European. The Super Middleweight tournament doesn't really feature the biggest names and champions of the division.

The Cruiserweight tournament, to hardcord boxing fans, is fantastic but it's Eastern European heavy. To those who follow the sport this is the tournament that will crown the most legitimate champion. Problem is the Cruiserweight division has always been a hard sell. I can't see any big broadcaster being excited about most of the fights at an early stage.

So many fights over such a short period. There is bound to be injuries, pull outs and controversy along the way. I just can't see the tournament running the course without fights being called off, rescheduled or fighters being replaced.

If big broadcasters don't invest where does the money come from? I know there is big financial backers but if it flops from the start I can't see many more of these taking place.

Until I start seeing the big TV deals being confirmed, I have little hope in the venture.

i think it is real fighting no matter what , as long as winners face the winners , but like you say with the injures and time for recovery it could flop in excitement, who knows , every fight could flop but that is sport,take the good with the bad i guess , as long as they don't change the rules and stuff and we have a clear winner. i think it will be a success

That's a great result for boxing fans without SKY & B0xnati0n. Sure we'll see some fights on ITV Box Office but the majority of the tournament will be on ITV4 and ITV.

The way they are doing this tournament is ridiculous. Having a bunch of individual fights spread across weeks or months, one at a time and piecemeal, instead of having them concentrated on a few cards on a popular tv channel that they could hype up in advance is such a poor strategy. There is no U.S. tv deal yet, and even if they get one, the whole thing is just a bunch of disconnected single bouts with undercards at seemingly random times and happening in random places. Considering the quality of the participants, this tournament is completely ill conceived and non-marketed.
