I wouldn't say he's avoided but he is definitely under rated in most rankings.
What he needs really is a big name to push himself onto a bigger stage and a win that really sets him apart from the rest of the world champions right now.

Currently he's holding onto the IBO and WBA 'Super' world title, a Unification bout with the winner of Miguel Cotto / Yoshihiro Kamegai would at least get him a step closer to the unified championship and get some more publicity going his way, especially with a big name fight against Cotto.

The WBA should be enforcing the Andrade and Lara fight straight away.

Also I had Lara beating Canelo 115-113 only seen it once though. I'll try and rewatch over the next couple of weeks though.

Also, if you aggregate all three official judge’s round-by-round scorecards for the Canelo-Lara bout, they concur with Steve Farhood’s (Showtime) scores for ten of the twelve rounds.

The official judges awarded rounds nine and eleven to Canelo, whereas the Showtime broadcaster gave them to Lara. And if you watch those rounds, they’re difficult to score.
And 38% thought Canelo deserved the win. You're offering semantics. Point remains, it was highly disputed decision.
You previously claimed that 63% of the media believed that Lara deserved to defeat Canelo, when the actual figure is only a third of them.

Your original point was wholly inaccurate, so it doesn't "remain", but at least I've convinced you to revise your opinion.

Lara deserved the win vs Canelo, and made him look really foolish at times. Lara pissed judges and fans off by being too mobile. The fight was Lara's to win, but in the end due to his style he deserved to lose. He could have won it easily if he just had the balls to fight.

It's not my fault your reading comprehension sucks. Read the first post again. I said the majority experts polled believe Lara won OR drew vs Canelo. Wholly inaccurate? No you just can't read properly.

It's not my fault your reading comprehension sucks. Read the first post again. I said the majority experts polled believe Lara won OR drew vs Canelo. Wholly inaccurate? No you just can't read properly.

If percentages aren't your thing, then think of a circular-shaped cake that has been cut into three equally-sized slices, you're wanting to take two of them, whilst leaving behind a few crumbs, when you're only entitled to eat one of them.

I'm not trying to change your mind about the outcome of the Canelo-Lara fight, since you're entitled to your opinion, but there's nothing wrong with me correcting supposedly "factual" claims that bear no relation whatsoever to the actual real-world facts.

OK, point made, but only a third of your experts had Lara beating Canelo.

My original claim, which you tried to undermine, was correct.

More experts had Canelo beating Lara than vice versa... and technically-speaking, the numbers you originally quoted were wrong.

Good fighter getting older by the minute Cuban fighter's seem to get some early success then become idle Lara needs to fight in unification or against someone with a name quick or he'll be still talking about Canelo in 5 years he might just get that rematch then he'll be around 40 :wave: :zzz:

Let's not go feeling bad for Lara because he's mainly the one to blame for the avoidance and lack of big time fights. He refuses to change or modify his style of boxing that is obviously not selling in big time boxing anymore. The Cuban-hit and run style couldn't be more unappealing to fight fans.

Yes, I had Lara beating Canelo easily but I'm so glad that they penalized him for running in those late rounds and didn't award him the win. Had Lara won that fight in that fashion then we'd be seeing other boxers copying the act of running while up on the cards. That was a very important decision result for boxing IMO. That result taught boxers that no matter what punches you land in a round, if you run, you lose the round. Period. No one wants to see that garbage.

Lara's performance against Angulo was his most entertaining fight. He took a beating and went toe to toe but it was exciting and he could have taken off from there but he went back to the cuban style of becoming a human sleeping aid again.

Yeah I'm excited for Charlo vs Lubin. Lara vs Gausha isn't as interesting, but Gausha is definitely an improvement over Yuri Foreman at least :lol:

Gausha was a former Olympian. He turned over with Spence, Ramirez, Browne, Warren, etc. from the 2012 Olympics. I've not seen him in forever though. Completely forgot about the guy. Also, no one is ducking Lara. Lara chose to stay with Al Gaymon. Lots of dudes with Al Gaymon have been completely mismanaged. It's not just Lara.

Luckily, Beterbiev is hopefully moving on to a different promoter/manager. PBC has so many fighters that would do better under new promoters/managers.
