If Taylor wins I think that is the only fight that makes sense for Burns.
That could be a true changing of the guard in Scotland
Now that would be a big Scottish fight
I imagine the Taylor fight would be a possibility for Burns even if he loses to Crolla

You see, Cotto hasn't won either, but he gets a world title shot. I think this rule only applied for Englishman lol
Supposedly the rule is back to back losses prevent you from challenging for one of their titles which must be the case as Cotto is doing so and also Marriaga

So what was Liam Smith's story for going to spain?

If I remember correctly the WBO will not let you fight for their title if you where stopped in your last fight or are coming off the back of 2 non stoppage defeats.
I'm not making it up. I'm sure someone took the time to read the rules and posted it either here, or on another forum when Smith turned up in Spain about 4 months ago.

Good matchup I think. Both have already found their level, but its a similar one.

Good fight, think Crolla wins at this stage of their careers.

Good fight, watchable, would have been nicer 2-3 of years earlier but still interesting to a point.

Any news if it will be a PPV card? The first question every fight now.

I believe it isn't a PPV - normally when it's a PPV fight, Eddie normally say it's on Sky Box Office when announced. This time he has just said on Sky Sports.

Can't imagine them putting this on PPV, would be an extremely hard sell. 2 fighters not particularly well-known to the casuals, both coming down from losses at world level, and (worst of all) both super nice guys, so unlikely to be any trash talking/flipping tables over!

Unfortunately if this fight happens, the undercard will probably be shite. But I won't complain too much.
Hopefully Eddie will have a decent undercard

Hopefully but I wouldn't count on it mate, we normally get terrible undercards in Manchester and both Crolla & Burns alone should fill the place

Good fight with 2 guys at similar levels and career tragectories
2 nice lads and 2 guys who put a shift in. Wont be a technically great fight or likely to see a big KO. But they'll both trade plenty of leather.
At 140 I'd have backed Burns. I think he is the better boxer and would have been more comfortable at the higher weight. At 135 it could be interesting, Burns ability to make the weight could play a factor and at this age Crolla might slightly outwork him
Still fancy Ricky to have enough in the tank with the better technical ability.
117-114 Burns (a few 10-10 rounds in this one)

I see Crolla winning this easily on points.
Of the two I reckon Burns is a lot more shopworn.

Aye, Eddie needs to get his finger out if he thinks he can whack a couple of prospects on, for me that Liverpool card should be his ambition from now on, feels like he's taking a page from Warren's book with that show, 4 solid domestic clashes.

Personally think this fight is poor. Burns is not what he was and have never been a fan of Crolla as a boxer. Burns should of fought Josh Taylor at light welter and Crolla should be fighting Flanagan. Them 2 fights there would get me a lot more excited than this fight

I quite like this fight personally but I agree that I'd rather see the other two fights you mentioned there given a choice.
