Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor
Floyd either dominates from the opening bell or holds back for a few rounds allowing Conor to tire himself out before Floyd starts to pick him apart later. I figure Floyd will want to shut him down early though so as not to allow him to get confidence. He wants to make him feel like he's in over his head early, and it won't be too hard to do.
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor
Can't argue with any of that - I certainly think McGregor will gas at some point.gilgamesh wrote:Floyd either dominates from the opening bell or holds back for a few rounds allowing Conor to tire himself out before Floyd starts to pick him apart later. Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor
Quite canny of BT to put up that vid of McGregor, thereby scuppering Sky's line that this is a big fight - because McGregor looks pretty bad in that fight - terrible technique and his chin don't look great either.
I pretty much know feck all about him, but surely 100% Floyd will stand this bum on his head, right ? I bloody hope so, cause that's what I've been telling all the people I know who are suddenly interested in a "big fight"
No way I am paying Sky for this circus act - although I can see if has a certain pantomime appeal, but even with an old 40 plus Floyd, surely this is just another run of the mill Joe Schmo pretty boy will take care of with the minimum fuss.
And NO WAY does Floyd throw this fight, his pride would never let that happen, 100%. It's not like he even needs the cash is it.
AND, I see Froch says the Irish man can win - is there no level he is not willing to stoop to to get his Sky paycheck ? Jesus what a tight arse he must be.

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor
Had another thought on this, I reckon its going to end in a brawl Judah-style. Conor is crude af boxing and will end up fouling Floyd repeatedly, back of the head, etc. I.can see Floyds corner rushing the ring to protest and Conor getting involved, then a brawl and its fight over.
How do they decide who wins the fight when something like that happens? From.memory it was Roger who rushed at Judah, but Floyd won the fight?

MCGregor will start to throw a straight left. Floyd will counter straight right, left hook. Good night

4) floyd breaks hand in 8oz gloves and cant continueNightmare Roy wrote:I see 3 scenarios
1 Floyd gives him a walk around for 12 rounds, makes it looks close, gets a money spinning rematch.
2 Floyd jumps on him and destroys him inside a few rounds.
3 Connor get sick of being hit relentlessly and does something daft to get DQ'd.

I just can't see it but I would hate Floyd to lose to this trashy prick. I've always disliked Floyds persona, this guy MacGregor takes the biscuit. Wanker.
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor
I know it has been mentioned, but could Floyd's age play a bigger factor than people think. It should be Mayweather and practically how and when he wants too... but I think there are more questions on Floyd as there is Connor.
I know Floyd's been probably playing it up - but 38-40 is usually the age where it all starts to unravel and we have seen it unravel quite catastrophically in history. I'll never forget Michael Ayers vs Jon Honney.

I think age is a factor but not in this fight. Conor cannot learn experience that Mayweather has learned in 49 fights in this fight alone. Conor's defence will be poor and this should be the biggest factor.stujones wrote:I know it has been mentioned, but could Floyd's age play a bigger factor than people think. I had a dream McG sparked him in 3.
I had a dream Bellew would stop Haye in 10.
I'm putting some wonga on a McG stoppage in 4.

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor
My initial thought was that McGregor would gas. But one surprise I had from the 'did he didn't he' knockout video against Malignaggi was that Paul admitted that he owned McGregor until the later rounds and McGregor came on strong. I know, it's just sparring and Paul would be easier to hit that Floyd, but I'm not so sure now that McGregor will gas. Anyway I think Floyd will get him out of there before we even get to see.3132DW wrote:Can't argue with any of that - I certainly think McGregor will gas at some point.gilgamesh wrote:Floyd either dominates from the opening bell or holds back for a few rounds allowing Conor to tire himself out before Floyd starts to pick him apart later. My little brother keeps saying its a remake of the boxing comedy film "The Great White Hype"
I'm a huge MMA fan, & I appreciate this is a guy making his debut against one of the best boxers the sport has ever seen.
HOWEVER Mayweather hasn't fought in two years, Floyd's last few fights he was taking more shots than normal & spending far more time than usual with his back to the ropes, he's 40 & in combat sports fighters can age dramatically almost over night regardless of how good they had looked in the gym.
Conor is going have a considerable size advantage, he is far younger & has been considerably more active. For those that don't follow MMA Conor hits hard & has a very unorthodox style. Regardless of whether you accept it was a legit knockdown or not, it appears Conor handled Paulie when most said he'd get destroyed by ANY pro-boxer.
I think Conor shocks a lot of boxing fans, and the closer the fight gets the more I think Conor might be catching an aging Floyd at just the right time.

My thoughts exactly, it's amazing how many people are saying "I hope he shuts up Mayweathers big mouth". Have these people never hear Connor being interviewed.Tomasino wrote:I just can't see it but I would hate Floyd to lose to this trashy prick. Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor
mcgregors size wont be a problem as he just wont know enough to impose himself, wouldn't be surprised to see Floyd just leaning on the ropes letting conor burn himself out and picking him off at willmoogie101 wrote:My little brother keeps saying its a remake of the boxing comedy film "The Great White Hype"

His patter is gutter scum, like a smack dealer whose made some cash and mouthing off at a bus stop. I always disliked him but the way he treated and spoke to Nate Diaz before the first fight really made me sick. I just hope Floyd doesn't get ancient overnight.

Thats like saying lewis hamilton has raced at monaco 50 times so he wont crash, floyd is 41 years of age now so his bones will be weaker so thats why i think it could happen.tobyh5 wrote:???thechump wrote:4) floyd breaks hand in 8oz gloves and cant continueNightmare Roy wrote:I see 3 scenarios

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor
No disrespect mate but ' give your a head a shake' McGregor will get made to look like what he is a cage fighter in a boxing ring. Paulie and mcgregor sparred for 36 minutes and they come up with a 20 second highlight clip where McGregor landed 1 clean punch. I'm not being funny that's a man who got stopped by Sam Eggington and hung up his gloves straight after. I'm sure if I sparred 12 rounds with this version of Paulie they could make a 20 second highlight clip of me and I would show better punch technique than what mcgregor did and land more punches. Mayweather will stand this boy on his headmoogie101 wrote:My little brother keeps saying its a remake of the boxing comedy film "The Great White Hype"

2 fights ago was Manny Pac. You really saying because one of the best fighters in the last 20 years landed a couple of shots of Floyd that McGregor has a shot? Go away hahamoogie101 wrote:My little brother keeps saying its a remake of the boxing comedy film "The Great White Hype"

Mate, sparring is sparring.. Don't read into that too much, and simply put, I like McGregor but he shoulda stayed in his lane, he's good in his chosen field, but mAyweather is going to teach him more than a few lessons come Saturday nightmoogie101 wrote:My little brother keeps saying its a remake of the boxing comedy film "The Great White Hype"

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor
Mayweather goes down at some stage early in the fight, gets up to dominate and is winning clearly on points....
McGregor then gets injured rounds 10 or 11 and has to withdraw with Mayweather picking up the win.
Which sets up the rematch
There ya go you heard it here first.
(Disclaimer - Thats not my view that's taken from a 'facebook' conspiracy story going round that its a set up, ya never know!

How can anyone say McG handled Paulie based on about 10 seconds of selectively publicized footage? This fight is an interesting case in the art of persuasion...
