Always thought this.
Instead of complaining about technical fighters, match them with brawlers.
I think those (Lara/Angelo) type fights are the most entertaining in boxing.
Most guys are not Floyd for the entire 12 rounds. They will crack under correctly applied pressure.
Even as the fan of the technical fighter, I always appreciate when a brawler breaks down a technical fighter.
Cool to see them slow the runner down, and then go for the kill.
Too bad we're losing this kind of fight.

I am more of an old school fan but it's hard to ignore boxers like the Golden Boy, Manny, and Money who had crossover appeal.
I am just glad Money upheld the dignity of boxing. I do not like MMA. I used to argue with MMA fans now I avoid them.
Back to runners... At their best Ali and SRL were a lot more than runners. They were intriguing to watch.

Wasn't Paqcio or whatever his name was injured from start till end during the fight? I thought that Mayweather didn't allow him to fight without injuries.

That's the excuse Pac gave. That's the way I always took it too. As an excuse.
He lost to Floyd because Floyd's better than him. Period.

111 is a fictitious number, just watch the fight. Maybe half of those were touches absolutely nothing on them. The guy was not throwing real shots a lot of the time. Didn't punch through the target more than a dozen times all night. And he was basically gift wrapped the first three rounds. That bullshit 111 is a joke, idiots will fall for it.

I didn't watch the farce, but punching through the target isn't a requirement to count a punch. A punch doesn't have to be hard or correctly thrown to be a punch.

If you look at the full punch stats that's a lot less impressive.
Plus Floyd was half of what he was against Pac Man.

FMM hardly broke into a sweat, he's had harder sparring. He carried McGregor and the punch stats mean nothing, Mcgregors "power" was not evident and apart from being a bit awkward he done nothing. It went exactly how I expected it to and I'm no Mayweather fan

Very bizarre. I expected everyone to be bashing Floyd for struggling. Evidently, McGregor was as bad as everyone expected. Go figure, I'd have thought the least likely possible sequence would Conor slipping a shot and landing a counter uppercut. Anyway, everyone can gear up tgo complain about GGG/canelo and support their prefight comments no matter how wrong they turned out.

I guess it shouldn't surprise me anymore, but it does. Lot's of small people like bashing their betters I suppose.
And the world goes on

Oké, I thought he gave the excuse before the fight and even asked if he was allowed to use medical threatment, then Mayweather simply said no, while Mayweather himself was doped till far above the roof, I mean, a ridiculous amount of illegal medication that helps covering up even more doping. Pac didn't want to lose 150M+, so he accepted to fight with one arm.

Poor little guy. We now know that the little Floyd bashers with nothing better to do hate MMA fighters more.

So you were being serious?
You wholeheartedly believe that Mayweather "struggled" to defeat Conor McGregor?
You're being 100% sincere about this?

Yes, it's a business now (cash grab). Boxing could go the way of WWF if it doesn't put its house in order.
It was vital that McGregor put up a decent show, and for a non boxer, he did. Both sports saved face, despite McGregor also having one hand tied behind his back. How about round 2 in the Octagon?
MMA, on the other hand will keep growing because its action packed and exciting. The violence levels are frighteningly high, almost, but not quite back to the days of the Colosseum.
Still, boxing still has a few aces left up its sleeve. Canelo/GGG promises to be a blockbuster classic for the ages.

After 7 rounds, this fight was actually really close if you were keeping an honest scorecard. The punch stats recording in this fight were almost as ridiculous as the 3 scorecards. I really hope that this favoritism retires with the wife beater but something tells me that Canelo will carry the torch as Vegas's only son and be the new benefactor of the unfair advantage from the judges and everyone else in Vegas. Bad news for GGG.

Amir Khan gave McGregor probably the best praise of any of the current active fighters saying he had zero doubt that McGregor would beat Paulie Malignaggi.
Dana White is supposed to release the entire footage of McGregor's two sparring sessions with Paulie Malignaggi, to show that they were telling the truth. After what we witnessed this weekend, there's no way Paulie Malignaggi beats McGregor cus he's nowhere in the same stratosphere as Floyd.

McGregor landed that counter uppercut early, had a surprisingly decent jab and landed a couple decent body shots. As far as quality shots, they came very far and few between for Connor. 90% of the punches he landed were arm punches and very ineffective and 50% of those were illegal punches lol. It was pretty obvious what Floyds game plan was after first 2 rounds and I knew it was only a matter of time before Floyd picked up the pace, wore Connor down and stopped him. I would have liked to have seen Floyd floor Connor, but at the same time I agreed with the stoppage, Connor was a sitting duck at that point and was target practice for Floyd.
At the end of the night, I think Connor made a decent account of himself being a novice boxer. He was awkward and rangy and it took Floyd 2 of 3 rounds to really get a good look at him. By the fourth round it was really all Floyd though and I have a hard time giving Connor a round after the 3rd. I think the first 2 rounds were Connors, the 3rd round was close, then it was Floyd the rest of the night.
I couldn't help myself but to watch the post fight reaction from Skip Bayless on youtube. He was talking about how the referee saved Floyd at the beginning of 9th because Connor had him visibly hurt. After a second look at it, it was clearly a low blow and a nasty one, that had Floyd hunched up in the corner. I think that was the point when Floyd said to himself, enough is enough and really started to touch Connor with the intent to get him out of there. I think rounds 1 and 2 Floyd felt Connor out, rounds 3 through 5 Floyd broke him down, Rounds 6-8 Floyd carried him a bit and then decided to finish him after that bad low blow that visibly hurt him in the 9th.
It was a entertaining fight, but the outcome was inevitable after the 4th round.
