Re: If Conor continues a boxing career

..running out of gas and being TKoed by a lot older, smaller and lighter boxer who is not exactly renowned for his KO power doesn't bode all too well..
Bottom line: I can't see Conor beating any Boxer worth continuing to watch in Boxing.Ossyrules wrote:Yeah I'd imagine eggington would out last him, Skeete would be too skilled, Gavin would be too. I've said he'd be British level
I've added the top guys at his weight division if he fought in boxing
What's the bit you're disagreeing with
Not gonna happen. UFC ain't gonna allow it. Not enough money in a fight with Malignaggi to make it worth their investment. I personally would have zero interest in Conor vs Paulie. If Conor boxes again I want it to be against somebody who will attack him and expose his flaws without mercy.chinarich wrote:If he boxes again and the money is there it will be Malignaggi in New York (Madison Square Garden if it's available) on St Patrick's Day. It will be Ireland versus Italy and the Irish and Italian Americans will lap it up.
Because he's not anywhere near a top 40 middleweight.gilgamesh wrote:Guys that aren't even in the Top 40 could dominate Conor.
Hell give him 3 years with a guy like Roach. He'd still never crack the Top 30.Ricky_ wrote:Because he's not anywhere near a top 40 middleweight.gilgamesh wrote:Guys that aren't even in the Top 40 could dominate Conor.
Put it this way, he's literally done 1 training camp to get from zero to the level he showed last night. I thought it was remarkable tbh. I thought he would be crossing his feet, standing square on, missing wildly, etc. Canelo looked far more clueless than McGregor did.
The guy should get a bit if respect - he seems a natural fighter, a quick learner, and a very good athlete that's adapted for various disciplines and weightclasses. A year with a guy like Roach i think he'd reach a respectable level.
he should get his ass back to the octagon where he's a legendgilgamesh wrote:Bottom line: I can't see Conor beating any Boxer worth continuing to watch in Boxing.Ossyrules wrote:Yeah I'd imagine eggington would out last him, Skeete would be too skilled, Gavin would be too. The hype train will get derailed soon in MMA too. Within his next 2 or 3 fights in the UFC he'll take another loss. Hell he lost an MMA match in 2016
He's not a legend. He's a good MMA fighter. He's the biggest star in MMA at the moment though which is a big deal.Ossyrules wrote:he should get his ass back to the octagon where he's a legendgilgamesh wrote:Bottom line: I can't see Conor beating any Boxer worth continuing to watch in Boxing.Ossyrules wrote:

Because I know Boxing. I know the level of skill it would take to reach the Top 30. He's not even close.Ricky_ wrote:
How can you say he wouldn't make the top 30?

Legend to me. Thinks he's fantastic for the UFC, especially in the UKgilgamesh wrote:He's not a legend. He's a good MMA fighter. He's the biggest star in MMA at the moment though which is a big deal.Ossyrules wrote:he should get his ass back to the octagon where he's a legendgilgamesh wrote:

He won't do that though. He's a top star commanding major paydays in the UFC. Why would he start trying to work from the ground up at Boxing? Especially when he just earned more for 1 fight than most boxers do in their entire careers.Ricky_ wrote:gilgamesh wrote:Because I know Boxing. Brian Rose is ranked #33 on boxrec mw rankings. He's a damn bum. There's every chance that McGregor at his current level could reach a better standard than Rose if he dedicated to the sport for 3 years under guidance of a top coach.
It's a hypothetical thread. I think he might just retire outright.gilgamesh wrote:He won't do that though. He's a top star commanding major paydays in the UFC. True but his name is big enough to get a fight with a name guy. He doesn't have to start at the bottom. It won't last long but he'd get some cash.gilgamesh wrote:Guys that aren't even in the Top 40 could dominate Conor.

He's a legend at this point, he's also the biggest star ever in MMA.gilgamesh wrote:He's not a legend. He's a good MMA fighter. He's the biggest star in MMA at the moment though which is a big deal.Ossyrules wrote:he should get his ass back to the octagon where he's a legendgilgamesh wrote:

Maybe so but he'll never be a boxer.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He's a legend at this point, he's also the biggest star ever in MMA.gilgamesh wrote:He's not a legend. He's a good MMA fighter. He's the biggest star in MMA at the moment though which is a big deal.Ossyrules wrote:
