Wouldn't be the first time Showtime lied about the numbers though.
Not saying Showtime never lies about numbers (or anything else) but just that they tend to lie less than Dana White. And the final tallies will be a lot closer to 4.5 million than 6.5 million.
Is it possible that Dana White is quoting a combined total that takes into consideration PPV buys from the US, UK, Middle East etc?

I suspect at least a million PPV buys would have been achieved in the UK alone (based on Mayweather's track record on Sky Box Office).

Anthony Joshua vs Ali, Tyson, Foreman, or Lewis would each do 100's of millions of dollars emanating from the UK’s Wembley Stadium... AJ would be favored to win all of them – as he has the range, the power, the height, the speed, and the skillsets to prevail... Mayweather-McGregor was the only Fantasy Fight that ever actually happened.. It was a joke fight, but it demonstrates exactly what 2 guys who are marketing geniuses can do when they combine their talents.. Joshua also has massive fan appeal because he pays attention to what boxing fans, interviewers, and the general public want to hear and see.

Luis Ortiz is an old man, but I see him blowing away Deontay Wilder…knocking him out cold.. However, if Wilder can somehow prevail in that fight with his big right hand – Joshua vs Wilder will break all-time Heavyweight records for PPV and live gate... So would Joshua vs Fury if the Irish Traveller wasn’t an undisciplined wreck of a human being.. Watching Fury cry after winning the Heavyweight Title I got the feeling for how unstable he is.. It reminded me of Buster Douglas crying after he knocked out Mike Tyson.. I was amazed. They couldn't handle being the Heavyweight Champion. Too much for them.

Joshua vs Ortiz will do well -- and Ortiz is an extremely dangerous opponent... But he doesn’t speak English.. He doesn’t have a clue. He doesn't have the fan base that you need to excite casual fans – who are watching to see what all the excitement is about... Most fans have no grasp on the value of match-ups.

Sure it's possible White was giving a combined figure but he was spouting that figure just a few DAYS after the fight. Accurate PPV figures (especially global) usually takes a week to 10 days.

Plus Dana is an expert at blowing smoke. Remember he convinced Sports Illustrated magazine to put Ronda Rousey on their COVER as the "World's Most Dominant Athlete" shortly before her blowout loss to Holly Holm.
