I think it's plenty.
What other fights are there for Browne to take where he'd make as much cash? And with such a potential opportunity down the line if he wins (if he beat Whyte then I'm sure Eddie would be talking about him as a potential Joshua opponent.
He's failed 2 drugs tests in recent years, been massively inactive and it was only 3 months ago he was calling Whyte out.
It's not like he's being asked to fight on a week's notice - surely 7 weeks is enough?! Some boxing cards are made and promoted inside of 7 weeks!

Agreed; however heavyweights tend not to be as they dont have to be disciplined about their weight.

I'm disappointed that Lucas isn't ready to fight in 7 weeks time. Is he a professional fighter or semi retired?
He posts enough on social media to imply that he is constantly in the gym.
This is a massive platform that sees the winner making real waves.
Maybe they have other fish to fry but I think the next fight for Lucas will be a step back from this potential match up.
If you aren't taking this fight, what are you waiting for?
I think Browne stops Whyte around 7-10 to be honest.

Brophy is 27 years old, Lucas Browne is 38.
In an ideal world all fighters would be ticking over 12 months of the year but at Lucas' age you just cant expect that to be the case...
Nonsense, at 38 it's more important to keep yourself in consistently good shape
regardless, the man wants a longer camp and Hearn knew this card was happening for a while now. If he really wanted to give Browne the time to get prepped for Whyte he could have. He chose not to...

He would need to jump on the plane yesterday and do his training in Britain ,
David Brophy had 12 days a managed to win so why Lucas needs in your opinion 7 weeks before the fight I can't understand
David Brophy , had time to train beforehand ,You did'nt take that fight, and travel on 12 days notice , plus the calibre of opponent there facing are miles apart . arriving 12-14 days in britain is what would be needed to acclimatize , and don't say it would'nt i've made the oz- britain trip perhaps 25-30 times . Take two weeks off and that leaves him 5 weeks to prepare not enough if he's out of shape , which he probably will be , which to be honest should'nt be the case for a full time pro boxer . Basicly if Eddie wants to drop it on an opponent he should pick an in form boxer from the states . Brown should get his ass into gear in case another offer comes and make sure he's ready .
If Brown was in shape it would'nt be a problem , 5 weeks , travel over and tone down easy peasy for an in shape fighter , but not enough to get fit , which i agree with you he should already be fit ,, plus to be honest he probably does'nt fancey his chances against whyte anyway , i think Whyte would destroy him

That's a promoter's job.
No its not ,Thats a managers job , a promoters job is to give the paying punters the most competetive fights , thats where boxing is fooking up , promoters and managers are crossing swords

A promoters job is to make money promoting fights, and any promoter who forgets that does so at his peril. There is no public service element to the job. If you can continually sell out and make a fortune having a limited fighter fight stiffs then you are doing a wonderful job.

I don't understand this tendency to keep suggesting boxing is messing up when it feels like a real boom period for the sport.

Isn't that one of the primary roles of the promoter?

Lets wait for Daniel Dubois win this weekend then challenge Browne. I think Daniel Duboiz would KO Browne in less than 3 rounds and send him into retirement. ..

I've said it for a while W@rren should be working with Browne.
Get him in the WBO mix with Parker and Hughie...

I think more of this 'beef' is being made out than is actually true.
Perhaps Eddie threw them a bone - do you want to fight on the show?
I don't think there was any malice or need to get offended - and likely Ricky didn't anyway.
I'm sure it's opened talks for something further down the line, or maybe Browne is looking at the Fury Parker winner - and if it's the latter, that's perhaps the first big heavy fight down that side of the world in years.

Fair comment from Ricky but at the same time all promoters do it. On top of that, at Browne's age and at this stage of his career; he shouldn't be turning down any fights where the money is half decent and it could get him a crack at Joshua down the line if he wins. It seems a very short sighted stance. He might not ever get the opportunity again.
It's his career though I guess.

I don't think it's excuses Hatton straight up honest here
Brownes next fight is massive, why shouldn't he get full camp.

The problem is, who is going to fight him? He's not marketable, he no longer has a belt, he's been popped for doping- who's gonna give him an opportunity? Hatton doesn't have the platform or funds to put on a big event for him, so I'm struggling to see where his next opportunity will come from.

Good points. Only in boxing where an opponent is in a restrictive situation do the extortion tactics come into there own

Exactly and its not even like he's got a weight limit to make. If a fighter is ticking over as a professional should be then 7 weeks is plenty of time, especially for a heavyweight who doesn't have to worry about weight making. And in all fairness Browne needs to be ready to grab whatever opportunity comes his way. Whyte/Browne would have been an excellent fight. Shame it won't be happening.

Yes totally this, thinking about was there any other fighter managed better than Hatton? Frank did a splendid job with Hatton bringing him along perfectly and timed his peak match like no other promoter could have.
