Closer to a billion than a million. Haymon made bank though.

Because he used investor money to buy timeslots. He isn't a 'promoter', he's an advisor so he still got his cut of the fighters purse for every fight. Really crooked shit, now that he's spent all the money the guys just sit around and wait for a showtime offer

Guessing it's the first significant sign that PBC is starting to nose dive.

How about looking at their finances? The whole thing is an investment scam lefty
Ah no I know that mate. I was saying though, it's the first significant sign in that up to now, no significant Haymon fighter has actually chosen to jump ship to someone else. Normally it's the opposite. Boxers are fighting over themselves to be signed to Haymon.

I still don't know how he got away with not being listed as a promoter though. What exactly is PBC supposed to be? Also, who was putting up the money for all of these shows he was having other promoters put on? I very much doubt it was them, and thus surely he really is the promoter of these events- even if he wasnt signing off as the official promoter? I mean if you look at the promoter Tom Brown (I think) he's a small time regional promoter, how could he ever fund these events?

What you fail to realize is haymon is probably still his advisor.

That's true mate. It's sickening the whole thing is a joke. I had naively harboured high hopes for it.

Conflicting reports on that. Most say he knew, though Rafael is usually reliable. I don't care enough to try and look into it.

He had enough money to put any fight together off of ppv. Now we have no networks interested in these awesome tournaments. I'm wondering if all this protesting in all of our other sports might help boxing.

Time will tell I guess as to whether that was the case then, and if so, if it's the beginning of an exodus of fighters or whether the status quo will remain.

How far under the radar this great cruiserseight tourney has flown is shocking. I know ex pro fighters and am boxers who haven't even heard of it nor most of the fighters bar Usyk.

Yeah valid point. I don't really understand Haymons rationale. I mean he seems to treat fighters very well and he clearly makes a lot of money himself. That said, he could have made a lot of far better match ups.

I don't know much about situation regarding other sports in the US but hopefully that does turn out to be the case.

Most of them are tied to the lame duck promoters and if they have a contract with Al they have to wait it out. He has hundreds of fighters and a working relationship with hearn, I highly doubt he was in the dark. He's just not going to spend his own money on this, let them go and collect the manager fee.

I'm assuming in America, the lack of American fighters participating has player a part in why they're not interested in broadcasting it over there.

In the UK, I think they have found it hard to find a broadcaster willing to pay enough for the rights fees to actually put it on. I'm guessing they're losing a lot of money at the moment!

Hasn't the whole PBC model been orientated towards not being tied down to one promoter though? I know Al tends to use the same promoters repeatedly to put on the PBC shows but the majority of the fighters aren't tied down to one network that I can think of? I guess you have Stevenson and Wilder who seem to have exclusive deals with showtime though.

If the money is really starting to run out, Haymon probably doesn't give a shit anyway, like you say.

He bought time space on other networks. Showtime buys fights, only major player involved. He uses a multitude of promoters but he has his fighters sign with them to keep them locked down. That was with the time buys. Why would a promoter turn on him when he hands them cards?

I think his rationale was to take the numbers him and Floyd done to investors and fleece them out of more money than most people, including champion boxers, could dream of. It's like $600-900,000,000!

In the simplest terms Al was the 'promoter'. Just not on paper.

He goes back to managing.
