Re: Whats next for Parker

You heard it here first. Next defence will be in NZ against Alexander Ustinov.
Yes good point. If I was manager I would go for winner of Haye Bellew and then cash him in against Joshuadirk2686 wrote:Surely it makes sense to cash in now and fight Joshua next year? I think he loses to the Haye Bellew winner to be honest and if that happens the big fight is up in smoke.
A big if but if Haye can look good in beating Bellew and Parker a fight between him and Joshua becomes the biggest domestic fight possible.
I think WBO already rejected it. Thank God for that.Jackson328 wrote:Tricky situation for Parker, he needs a fight or two before any potential unification with either of AJ/Wilder next year but he risks losing his belt if he aims too high and he needs to look better than in his last 2 or 3 fights. Fujimoto is in the WBO top 10 (8th I think) so Parker is perfectly entitled to a voluntary after defeating his mandatory in Hughie then the winner of Bellew/Haye 2 would be my guess to keep him in the spotlight over here. If he can negotiate that then the WBO would surely allow him a unification before pressing for his next mandatory defence. Can anyone envisage the WBO ordering a rematch with Hughie after Hennessy lodges his protest? Thought not!
It'll time suited for NZ PPV, TBS spend a SHIT TONNE on their Kyoguken show, a big stadium fight, billed as historical in Tokyo, certainly could have pkenty of money behind it...would likely make more than the Fury fightTarkus wrote:I seriously doubt they can raise enough cash in Japan to justify Fujimoto fight. And I also think Parker team is far more confident in his abilities then some of the posters here. So they will go for Bellew and if they cant get him they will go for Whyte.
He doesnt have to fight someone from top 15. He can ask WBO to allow defense against someone outside top 15. I dont think WBO will block Bellew as a voluntary.Grailer wrote:Parker can only fight opponent from WBO top 15 .
Bellew isnt ranked in top 15.
Parker fights in Japan or fights Dylan Whyte in england next IMO
I dont think Japanese will buy into a such bogus story. Although I admit I know next to nothing about inner workings of Japanese boxing. Lets Wait and see.Boxing Prospect wrote:It'll time suited for NZ PPV, TBS spend a poo TONNE on their Kyoguken show, a big stadium fight, billed as historical in Tokyo, certainly could have pkenty of money behind it...would likely make more than the Fury fightTarkus wrote:I seriously doubt they can raise enough cash in Japan to justify Fujimoto fight. Think you're under estimating things. Since his early defeat he has become a triple crown winner (Japanese, OPBF and WBO Asia Pacific). Unifying the two regional titles (against weak opponents but the region isn't exactly stacked). The bout has a back story given the two have spoken about each other for around 2 years, allowing the media in Tokyo to slowly build the fight and sow the seeds.Tarkus wrote:I dont think Japanese will buy into a such bogus story. Considering Mayweather/Pacman only got 4.4m buys, do you want to lower your estimate a little?Boxing Prospect wrote:Suspect it comes down to whether or not NZ tv will put some PPV money in given the time of year. But in Japan more than 10,000,000 would tune in, easily.
My estimate is lower end, TBS and affiliates are free to air. TBS would have it on their nationwide affiliates (MBS, CBC etc) and get between 7-17%.the_doctor wrote:Considering Mayweather/Pacman only got 4.4m buys, do you want to lower your estimate a little?Boxing Prospect wrote:Suspect it comes down to whether or not NZ tv will put some PPV money in given the time of year. Murata vs N'Dam drew over 11,000,000 on Fuji
Inoue vs Rodriguez peaked over 5,000,000 in Tokyo alone
Those two are genuine top guys. Whereas Fujimoto is not, despite his regional titles. That is exactly where I am coming from. Of course I could be underestimating his draw at home but we shall see.Boxing Prospect wrote: My estimate is lower end, TBS and affiliates are free to air. Incredible figures! Is there a PPV market out there?Boxing Prospect wrote:My estimate is lower end, TBS and affiliates are free to air. Not really, the closest thing is A sign, which is more of a...buying domestic cards for like ¥500 and watching on delay at your pleasure. Very cheap and usually decent cards but not live.sammy95 wrote:Incredible figures! Is there a PPV market out there?Boxing Prospect wrote:My estimate is lower end, TBS and affiliates are free to air. Fair comments re: Parker. He really needs a tailor made opponent he can look good against, someone who'll bring out the best in him, he's looked laboured and reticent in his last few outings.KiwiRider wrote:Good interview, thanks Tarkus.
Seems Parker has devalued after 3 stinkers in a row. Cant blame Eddie for putting a preJoshua fight in front of Parker. He hasn't earned that fight yet.
Also it seems that Whyte is the new boogie man![]()
If Eddie has been waving a lot of money around and approaches all if the top 15 HW's, and can't get him a fight![]()
What does that say?
The B grade HW guys turning down millions, when they general get offered 6 figure fights!
