It wasn't easier. Nowadays I can have my ticket, hotel and train booked within five minutes and everything printed off.

Not really only hard core fans went to live shows then because it was live on free TV unlike now , it's like darts now there's crowds of 10,000 plus compared with 200 when Eric bristow played but I can guarantee bristow was recognised by more house wife's than van Gerwin is today ,just different times only 3 TV channels if you were on one regularly you was know nation wide

They have been compared since the emerge of Joshua for obvious reasons, but the comparison ain't going anywhere with time and this has a big reason too.

Joshua is indeed a reincarnation of Bruno. An advanced one, a more lucky one, a bigger one as well, but the core is the same. Both are strong guys with huge punching power, good fundamentals and the robotic style lacking fluidness, ring IQ and an ability to overcome serious adversity.

Bruno was in the top of his times, but always losing to the best guys. He became a champion after lucky circumstances of Lewis being upset by McCall. Joshua has a better career because of even bigger luck factor. He emerged in times of the hometown Olympics, where he was clearly aided by the judges. The was tracked by a one of the best promotions in the pros and he was lucky to enter the championship level, when Tyson Fury had a depressive coke vacation.

Look at the Wlad fight, imagine how Joshua would act in a case of Klitschko going for the kill in the 6th round. Joshua would have never been seen as the man by anybody, if Fury didn't have a hiatus.
