Mosley's been into his weights in a big way for a long time. The world record for a guy his size is 225kg. I know we're talking different sports, but 360lbs versus a top of 470lbs, that's not inconceivable by a stretch.
but the guy who did 470lb will be a lifelong juicer!!!

McCline's physique looks pretty natural to me there, he's not overly muscular.

the guy is 6'6".... to maintain that kind of muscle size and do enough cardio to be a 12 round fighter is extremely hard naturally...

not impossible however.... but suspect ;-)

Is that why Wlad Klitschko runs out of pop? Maybe he was juicing but stopped....

McCline hardly throws a huge amount of shots though does he? I mean, he's hardly the second coming of Ali when it comes to workrate.

Says it all. No way do I believe a light middle can naturally press 160kg without some form of assistance - It just doesn't seem possible.

That's bollocks, ever watched weighlifters, those little guys are way strong, and it's not even just the ones who juice. Anyone remember Precious McKenzie, i think that was his name, he lifted two huge men on his shoulders once, thing it was Geoff Capes and someone else.

Wasn't Mosley in the weightlifting team at high school?

Weightlifting is more to do with the technique than strength, I'm sure Meehan is much stronger than Mosley, but Mosley obviously controls the bar better...just my take on it.

Not saying Mosley didn't juice, i have definite suspicions, but his ability to lift weights isn't neccesarily that indicative.

Look at Precious MeKenzie's combined powerlifting total here. He only weighed 120 lbs! His top combined lift was nearly 600KG!

Now of course Mosley wouldn't be as good as all that, but he's significantly larger...

56kg
1971 Precious McKenzie GBR 530
1972 Precious McKenzie GBR 547.5
1973 Precious McKenzie GBR 532.5
1974 Bojazi USA 517.5
1975 Lamar Gant USA 507.5
1976 Lamar Gant USA 552.5
1977 Lamar Gant USA 567.5
1978 Precious McKenzie GBR 590.0
1979 Lamar Gant USA 610
1980 Precious McKenzie NZL 587.5
1981 Hiroyuki Isagawa JPN 577.5

Yep, but it goes to show that when you train properly you can do wonders. Meehan played rugby league in Aussie, he was strong and fit, and then took his lifting seriously and stuck 50% on it in training for one fight. I think that that shows how much stronger guys who lift are AT THOSE SPECIFIC EXERCISES as well as in general.

Mosley's been lifting for years and years and years. I'm not saying he's clean, but lifting that much weight clean at that weight is far from impossible. But I do use the old weights myself as do a lot of mates of mine through sport and these are impressive but not crazy numbers we're talking.

if he did do 160kg, he obviously spent a lot of time training specifically for it, to the detriment of his boxing skills...

interestingly, when he did US Superstars, he chose NOT to do the weight-lifting event!!!!

That I'd agree with wholeheartedly. I think he was so concerned with piling on muscle he forgot that he needs to be able to use it. Mosley before and after the move up in weight is / are two different boxers

That is more likely the point. In moving up the weights, Mosley has pumped his physique quite obviously, doing way too much weight training which has tightened his physique.

Weight training done to excess lessens the flexibility of the muscles and joints, which in turn will actually lesson punch power eventually, at least according to what I've heard from some trainers and old timers. Look at Tommy Hearns' awesome punch power in the lighter weights, and yet there was hardly a pick of flesh on the man.

I think Mosley chose to emphasise his physical strength as he moved up to light middleweight, and found out that in fact it was to his detriment not to his advantage to build up those big muscles. The change in his physique is quite remarkable between lightweight and light middleweight, compare Duran's between lightweight and middleweight, and it is nowhere near as dramatic, Duran merely looks less gaunt at the higher weight.

Yeah, and Duran could still bang a bit a 160.

Could you ever see Moseley dropping Iran Barkeley? Not me!

Steroids aren't magic pills. They don't, on their own, make you stronger or faster or give you increase stamina. In fact, I don't believe there's any correlation between steroid use and cardiovascular performance. If you stop taking steroids before an athletic event you don't deflate like a balloon. So, no, it does not explain Wlad Klitschko's problems. Maybe if he was on EPO until the Brewster fight.

'Roids help you in the gym, period. They enable the body to train harder and recover faster from workouts (and injuries). If you keep pushing the envelope then it makes sense that a body would keep getting bigger and stronger. Point is, you gotta do the work. All your mega star athletes are amazing freaks of athletic excellence to begin with. They are not average guys. Add in steroids and you get even better athletes. And if a guy wants to get bigger, then the juice will help. But you don't need to put on weight on steroids if you're using it to counter balance the breakdown that results from hard training.

You forgot to mention the rages argggggggggggggggggggggggh.

A guy i know was using them for a while and used to blow a fuse at the slightest thing.

Makes your knob small aswell.

my question to you guys is this.

when mosely lifted that supposed amount, are we talking aboutn just one lift or a full set of say 6-8 reps? If it was his maxium lift and he barely managed one, then thats great. I would be morried if he was knocking off sets with that weight.

but i think its pretty obvious hes been on the juice, i mean look at how he looked in the winky fight compared to that photo, not nearly as ripped.

But like someone said, these guys are exceptional atheletes and have to work hard even with the juice. However, i think its ridiculous, that after being caught, like vargas, fighters are allowed to return. Kick the cheats out I say. but I guess money has the final say.

Roids have no impact on your knob 007 although they do shrink the testicles temporarily...

As for rages again this isnt always the case and different steroids effect different people differently I for instance find Sustanon effects my moods whereas other steroids dont at all...

You still have to train your bollox off when on steroids they arent magic.

I think we're talking 1rm for the 160kg lift.

Bulking steroids don't make you ripped. They give you a greater propensity to grow, but they can also increase water retention / bloating which actually goes against making you ripped. Obviously Mosley could have done something like ephedrine or whatever to strip some spare weight, but being ripped is all about losing weight, not gaining weight.

Some roids do reduce the size of your tackle given prolonged usage. Not sure why. But have you ever seen those photos of the big gun body builders in their posing pouches? I know it's bad to notice such things, but when some huge feller's wearing nothing but a floursescant pink thong, you're damn well going to spot if he's packing equipment that makes Pee Wee Herman look like Linford Christie.

I think the old school steriods caused water retention but modern stacks leave you ripped when combined with a hard training regime!!!

Not sure about shrinking your tackle.... I think its all relative, if you have 35 inch thighs your tackle is gonna look pretty tiny proportionally
