Very exiting match, combined it's the highest average ranked heavyweight match of this year.

Hammer isn't anything special, this fight isn't exciting. Povetkin takes it, just a matter of how.

They'd have no interest in fighting in your living room -- since the venue has only one restroom and orange crates for seating. But you do hate enough to take time to comment on the thread -- and that's more attention than Povetkin would throw in your direction.

Like a few on here, I really rate Povetkin.

But he isn't going to get the shot at Wilder or Joshua, not as long as my arse points downwards.
And his chances dimish as long as he looks dangerous, which should be the criteria for getting a big fight.

So on that basis, this one and any other decent Povetkjin fight is a bit pointless

I think the Wilder ship has sailed, but I see no reason to suppose he wouldn't get a shot at Joshua, other than the fact he's going to have to stand in line and he's not getting any younger. His failure to stop Rudenko might suggest he's slipping (or maybe he's missing his, er ... supplements) although to be fair nobody has stopped Rudenko, he's a tough s.o.b.

I like Povetkin and I think the way he was treated by the WBC compared to Stiverne was a disgrace. The meldonium charge was bullshit even they admitted they couldn't tell if he'd used it after it was banned. The ostarine charge less cut and dried, but Stiverne was caught taking DMAA and not only not punished, but rewarded with an automatic mandatory number one challenger shot, which was emphatically not earned in the ring.

I don't say Povetkin is innocent of any wrongdoing, but his treatment was clearly politically motivated. He has consistently shown he isn't afraid to take on tough opposition and I'll be sad if he retires before he gets another shot at the title. I think Hearn would see Povetkin as a good name for AJ to have as a win on his record. As good as Povetkin is he would be at a huge physical disadvantage against the much younger man without the compensation of having the technical proficiency advantage that he would have enjoyed against Wilder.

This fight sucks.
Hammer is over rated. He was behind on all cards before Price' s chin gave out.
Lost to Fury. He was ko' d by Wach.

Calling him top 10 is a joke. Povetkin should destroy him in 4 rounds

looks like pov going the wbo route. hes 6 with them and hammer is 1 so he cant be that far off becoming mandatory if he wins. in reality on ability hammer is maybe top 30.

also it wasnt really prices chin going agaibst hammer. price was tired and looking worn down from early as the third. looked like he was going to get stopped when he dropped hammer. price just has no tank and freezes when pressured.hammer teed off on him in the end yet still couldnt drop him.

ya i mean on recent record you can argue hes top 15 but personally i think that designation really flatters him. imo hed prob lose almost every round to guys like miller and whyte.

Cheers Kiwi

I think Hammer is an improved fighter. I wouldn't hold against him the fact that he was behind against David Price - everyone is behind against Price up until the point that they stop him. He also beat Erkan Teper although only on a split, and it has to be said Teper isn't the same without his pharmaceutical enhancement.

I think that it's hard to deny that based on recent results, Hammer is worth a top ten ranking even though this is flattering to his ability. I don't see him troubling too many of the fighters rated around him and Povetkin won't be an exception to that.

I'd have to say with this, on the undercard:

Gasan Gimbatov vs Roberto Secola is one hell of a fight!
Both of them are able to achieve a top 30 rank within 3 years.

Certainly worth a look Asdfjkl it's good to see two unbeaten prospects having the nerve to face another and risk their '0'. I'll reserve judgement on their potential though, I don't think I've seen either box before.

Dag - I've been watching it there, but I didn't know if I'm allowed to post any live fight links here. I thought they have a rule against it.

i often post live fights from Russia here on the forum and never had problem but if they have a rule against it i think it makes no sense, i just cant find any reason against doing it
