I should've been clearer - Parker is the only HW champion I give Bellew a shot against. I agree he could beat Whyte but not sure he would be interested in that fight, will be financially secure after Haye 2 so if he wins again surely motivation will only be there for a title shot as nothing to gain from sparking Whyte

xerz00 wrote: 16 Nov 2017, 10:12 Strange one for Eddie as wont want his fighter losing but equally if Haye wins then that spells big bucks in a potential fight with AJ in Spring/Summer

If Bellew wins, only HW he would have a semi decent chance against would be Parker (purely due to size).
I'd give Bellew a great chance vs Whyte - who is pretty poor and seems to have issues with Balance / Chin since AJ.

Agreed - Whyte is a bit of a meaningless fight for Bellew.

If he wins and decides to carry on I can only see Parker being of interest. If he can't get that fight then he may as well pack in. He's a multi-millionaire and won a world title. He's done well for himself.

Knowing Eddie Hearn, he'd put Whyte vs. Bellew on PPV.. Maybe a decent undercard. But regardless of the card. Whyte vs. Bellew is never a ppv bout..

I don't rate Whyte that highly but he's a live heavyweight so I'd give him the edge over Bellew.

Oh absolutely - I'd favour Whyte to win. My point was that Bellew's only real serious ambition would probably be the fight with Parker. I'd back Parker to win that as well but it's not beyond the realms of fantasy for Bellew to win that.

A fight with Whyte wouldn't be for a title, and you can't really sell it on the basis of 'winner gets a world title shot' because Bellew has said time and again he's not fighting Joshua, with good reason. It would make sense if Bellew was five years younger but his career is coming to an end.

Bellew wouldn't fight AJ but I think he'd suck him off if given half a chance :OhYes:

I think there is a great chance for Whyte vs Bellew to be for the vacant WBC title in 2018. Look how quickly Fury lost his IBF belt after beating Klitchsko.

AJ vs Wilder with a rematch clause will probably mean the winner will eventually get stripped of some of their belts - Whyte I believe is #1 for the WBC and Bellew is a champion emertius with the green and gold belt at Cruiser... with the right negotation he will easily get slotted into #2.

If Whyte wins the fully expect Whyte vs AJ 2, late 2018 early 2019.... if Bellew wins well, he's either going to really go for the massive payday with AJ or retire WBC Heavyweight champion.

And Judging by Whyte's performances of late - I fancy Bellew quite strongly to beat him.

Haye will certainly look for an early hayemaker. If Bellew isn't out of there by Round 6 than I can see the same thing repeating itself.

Would definitely not be surprised if there was a third fight between the pair if Haye gets the win in the rematch.

Whyte's options are quite limited really - in worldwide terms, his good effort vs Joshua was seen by a limited audience - not sure it was broadcast in the states to a major firm.

Since then, his main chance to shine on the Undercard of Joshua vs Takam - he blew badly in a snoozefest of a fight. His other big domestic rival who could drum up some domestic interest lost a couple of weeks back and also, importantly, in my view, it is only now after the dramatic Stiverne KO that Wilder's stock has risen enough to go "okay, so he actually might have a chance to beat Joshua" - Whyte is so hit and miss in terms of box office attraction to watch - is Wilder going to want to have another snoozefest which will lose the interest in Joshua - I think NOT.

Nobody is going to want to fight Whyte, including Bellew at this moment, and any fight with Chisora is now going to be seen as a massive backward step and potential bannana skin. I really feels he has little option but to sit on his WBC #1 ranking and see what happens with Wilder and what the WBC decide in terms of forcing mandatory.... my strong feeling is if Wilder has to somehow vacate (or the winner of a Unified title vacating) - then it will have to be Whyte vs someone.... and that someone will surely be the Bellew vs Haye winner.

To answer the original post at the start of the thread ...

Haye cannot be as bad with regards his timing etc

If he is not, then I favour Haye to win.

Simplistic argument but in truth I want Bellew to win for personal reasons

Nah. I just figure as injury prone as Haye is chances are he pulls something while raising his arm to the crowd after his introduction. If you can beat a man once, you can beat him twice...especially an aging, injury prone man.

If haye is injured I’d expect him to lose

Injured or not I expect him to lose. Eventually injuries add up, and keep effecting your body and performance whether they've healed up or not. David Haye is probably at that point where his injuries always nag at him a little bit.

Also. As lucky as Bellew was to have faced an injured David Haye in the 1st bout, the confidence boost he'll have going into the 2nd bout having beaten Haye may see him perform better. In spite of the flukish manner in which everything worked out for Bellew the 1st time. A guy can't help, but be more confident facing a guy he's beaten before.

Don't get me wrong. If Haye beats Bellew this time it certainly ain't gonna shock me, but I think Bellew is capable of beating Haye in this rematch. Injury or not.

Not sure how much confidence can be taken from “winning” a fight that is decided when an opponent ruptured his Achilles. Bellew didn’t cause the injury, and he was getting comfortably beaten up to that point. Bellew says his plan was to take it late, but frankly haye looked to be blowing less than Bellew, who looked horrendous with the extra weight at 211.

Remember fight 1. Bellew couldn’t sustain a single attack and took 5 rounds to take out a sitting duck. He’s no heavyweight and if haye is 100%, he must cruise this fight.

Bellew has no chance vs Whyte either. He’s not a heavyweight

Factor in Ismael Salas ... Hayes new trainer ... superb at his craft.

Thats why my bulbous head says Haye but my heart wants Bellew

Haye doesn't have a shot at Whyte either. He would've in the past, but I think he's just about washed up. The 4 years out...I don't think he's ever getting back to the level of notoriety he once had in the sport.

I don’t either. It’s a big if cos he’s never fit, but if he is fit and fast he could knock Whyte out

If Haye beats Bellew, I figure they're gonna go straight for a fight between he and AJ.

AJ would want a fight with Haye because it'd be one of the bigger drawing names he could be matched against, and of course you can count the reason$$$$$ why Haye would want a fight with AJ.

I just hope haye knocks out Bellew, retires him, and frankly retires himself. Joshua should look elsewhere and not be tempted by the haye money

He should, but he wouldn't.

In all fairness. The 1-2 punch of Big Money-Easy win over a Big name

Isn't something most fighters would turn down.

Wilder doesn't fight Top 10 ranked opponents. Povetkin and Ortiz have PED'd themselves out of the conversation. He's already beaten Takam and Whyte. I suppose there's Parker, but that's not much more interesting than Haye really, and wouldn't make him nearly as much money.

The division is way light but haye shouldn’t be in the picture for next year at least. There’s enough relative opponents for the next year
