I thought Margarito would win, but purely based on the fact i didn't think Santos could take his power...he obviously could which is a surprise but it's no surprise that he was then able to outclass Margarito. Santos himself is very under-rated, people are turned off by his usual style....i hope he gets respect this time after beating Margarito the hard way.

Not quite sure how he OUTCLASSED Margarito - it was split at the time of the stoppage and the naturally stronger Mexican would have come home down the stretch surely?

I hope Margarito gets a straight rematch.

Margarito was robbed of a knock down in that fight. so i heard.

maybe santos was dirty in that fight 2, i will watch it next week

yeah ok, i jumped to that conclusion very quickly after the first couple of reports i read. Hopefully i'll see the fight later and be able to justify any comments i make on this fight

But what is clear is that Santos faught Margarito's own fight...had i been told this before the fight i wouldn't of thought Santos would of lasted 4 rounds. So many people have gone on about Margarito being under-rated to the extent he's become over-rated. He's never been overly impressive even when he stopped 6 heads, he was stunned one or two times. He's got decent skills, a lot of heart and determination. But some reckoned he would give Spinks hell if not beat him.

The report I read on Fightnews seems to suggest that Margarito was coming on top, but I still think Stylewise Spinks is all wrong for him.

Another worrying aspect is that Margarito was hurt on a few occasions vs Santos, who thus far has not displayed much power at Light Middle. This of course is no worries as far as Spinks is concerned, but I think Spinks will do a similar job to what he did Mayorga and outbox him for the course.

Some might call Santos lucky for retaining the title (with some reason) but he was still in the fight by the 6th round and for me is one of the most underated champions around.

It was the usual homeboy decision.

Seems a lot of people were backing the wrong man. Santos always had a shout in this match. Off the top of my head, his last four fights had all been 12-rounders. That's good going into a big fight. Margarito, on the other hand, had been winning fights early. We only have to look at David Haye's abysmal capitulation to see what a run of quick wins does to a fighter when an opponent actually survives the early rounds.

Well I'm gutted. I was positive Margarito would get this guy out of there in the middle rounds. Will look forward to watching what happened next week.

Hot prospect Marco Antonio Rubio is on the bill taking on familiar face Kofi Jantuah. Wouldn't want to miss that one, Rubio has stopped 20 opponents inside 2 rounds.

Margarito sets a high workrate in his fights and throws a lot of punches but he is no always 100% accurate, against Diaz he got hit an awful lot and "fights with his face" as Ian Darke says. I am not surprised Santos could outbox him at times.

no idea but rocky joe walking around with his manager all day. kinda like a ottke fight build up.

no the judge rocky young is santos manager mate. i worded it wrong. its still wwrong thou. they even said it on that maxboxing show.

oh and rocky young was with santos promoters all day as well.
