In the same interview he also said Deontay Wilder didn't deserve 50/50 against AJ, and repeatedly said that opponents for Joshua need to forget the split and look at the financials, so he can lowball them all, the dick.

If I was managing Burnett there’s no way I’d take the Tete fight just yet. There are bigger paydays for less risk.
Two things need to happen for this to be a big fight.
1- Tete and his team need to build his profile. The knockout that went viral helps, as does the world championship.
What doesn’t help is the fact he was on the undercard extremely early again and not live on the BT format. I’d get a opponent the ‘sky’ boxing fan knows and stick it on just before the main event. Also he has no fanbase and pops up all over the shop. Keep him on the Belfast cards. Increases the interest in the likely place of his biggest potential fight.
2. Both need to keep the belts. Sounds an obvious one but if they are both still champions in 12-18 months the fight would be inevitable.
Next steps- I’d keep Burnetts titles in house. Mcdonnell and Butler the likely opponents.
For Tete I’d get him out in Belfast against Solis who already has a profile on Sky. Live on BT just before the main event in March (Frampton).

Hearn can dress it up however he likes but the reason is he's not making this fight is because he knows Tete will school Burnett. I like Burnett but he's a world champion and should be looking to unify. To be fair I'm sure Burnett would take the fight given the choice.

Hearn clearly knows how dangerous Tete is and that's fine, he'd be a fool not to. If he admits that Burnett is a very good fighter, among the best in the division and still improving then he can say they want another fight or two before they're ready for Tete. Most people would understand that. The problem is as soon as his fighter wins a world title he just has to claim that they're the best in the division.* If you're willing to declare yourselves as #1, you have to be willing to fight #2.
The most annoying thing is that the Matchroom fan boys will lap this up. They'll believe and brag that Burnett is the best bantamweight in the world yet justify him not fighting the most dangerous challenger because of the money. The modern fan is half boxing and half accountant. Meanwhile he describes proper boxing fans as "a couple of blokes on the internet."
"Financial legacy" is a cracking quote as well
EDIT
* See also - Yafai at Super Fly, despite Sor Rungivsai beating Gonzalez twice. Not to mention Inoue AND Estrada.
- Jacobs at Middleweight, despite the fact that he'd lost his previous fight to Golovkin.
- McDonnell at Bantam (pre-Burnett), even claiming that he'd "cleaned out the division", despite the fact that Yamanaka was champion for 6+ years and found himself on the RING p4p list for 2 years.
- Quigg at Super Bantam, despite the fact that he'd have a fit if anyone mentioned fighting Rigo.
Guarantee there's some more if you go back a few years as well.

To be fair, Hearn did say that Quigg would probably lose to Rigo, and the risk/reward meant that not making the fight was a no-brainer.

Good post
Re: Eddie Hearn will not put Ryan Burnett in with Zolani Tete
Even though it isn't. I hear less and less about it every year.
Depends what you mean by taking over. MMA will never replace boxing I hate people saying that. Both are different sports which can co exist.
But MMA stateside is clearly getting bigger, the TV deals prove that compared to what boxing has. More buzz is generated by it and the big cards sell out.
Boxing can learn loads from MMA. The problems as highlighted in the sitatuion with Burnett and Tete ( and many others ) just can't be fixed straight away.
I'd say it peaked here a few years ago.
Their numbers are only getting better and better and darren till is about to make MMA huge in the UK.
You wouldnt get this type of crap in MMA about avoiding fighters to make money and con fans.
UFC 218 tonight is guaranteed to have some awesome fights and.good knockouts. You dont get that guarantee in boxing when you pay for a PPV, which is why I havent paid for one in years.

Burnett did an interview with IFL TV the other day.
Has respect for Tete but says it's up to Eddie Hearn to decide who he fights.
Haven't really seen him speak without Adam or/and Eddie in the frame, seems a good bloke and very talented.

Some hellacious points to be made!
1. As an aside to my next couple of points, in the past, Eddie has stated that the fighter chooses who he wants to fight, and that he brings them the options, so Burnett's 'Eddie Decides Who I Fight' is ridiculous. From whatever angle, it's embarrassing, he could easily fight Tete for a decent enough purse.
2. Away from that, I'm on Eddie's side slightly. Because he's identified that Tete isn't a draw, that his man isn't a big enough draw, that his man needs big money before cashing out and finally, that they can fight a voluntary for the reward/risk to be in their favour rather than it not be in their favour. I'm all for fighters making their money, but I do expect him to face Tete in 12 months, if not, it's poor form.
3. I think if Frank wants Tete to become a star he needs to push him a lot more than he has in the past. I didn't even realise Tete was WBO champ till I saw the poster for the last event he was on, because he was instated out of the blue. Get him a unification fight with the other champ! Or put him in with Lee Haskins to boost his profile. Pay the money. It might just pay off, especially if he can get him on a ppv undercard. Then surely Burnett can't duck him.

I can’t see them both not winning. Tete should be through tonight.
What i’ve found with the WBSS, the 1/4 final fights, the winners are usually the obvious choice. It’s the semi’s were we start seeing the 50-50 fights.

watching tete vs aloyan i think burnett can beat tete. im not saying he will, but i defo dont see it as some 'ya, burnetts getting crushed job'. of course burnett has to beat donaire first but i think he should manage that. aloyan seems pretty small and with no power but i thought he won 5 rounds vs tete
tetes had a repuation as a monster since he tooled butler, but , maybe thats just what legit world level guys (and not stuey halls) do to paul? rodriguez pretty much did the same but w/o a stoppage
i kinda get the feeling, that tete and burnett may be on the same level, which is solid world class, while inoue is above them on p4p level. rodriguez im still not totally sold on him being as good as burnett or tete (or inoue obv) but well see. his opponent moloney actually looks decent from what ive seen

It’s a 50-50 fight. Tete has power, but he doesn’t rely on it. He’s a patient boxer.
