The division has been a wasteland for years now. I don't think Jack was that great either. The division is just so terrible. The fact that you have a post-Cobra'd Groves at the top tells you a lot about this division.
Golovkin could've moved up and cleaned it out. MW is a way tougher division now.
Golovkin had no interest in moving up when there some major beasts at 168 just a few short years ago, so I can't see him wanting to do it now.

or maybe thats exactly why he would move up.im not convinced he really was so eager to fight the best. now he can cherrypick the ibf belt and say 'well i did test nyself by moving up and winning a title'
but canelo money probably makes rematch more likely

Coming off nearly a year out of the sport, he was going to struggle. Yes he was a favourite to win and you're right it was a shock upset. But doe she suck ? Hell no. Show some respect for the boxers who actually get in the ring.
Former British champion
Former European champion (Won then defended twice)
Former WBC Silver champion (Won then defended 3 times)
Now former IBF Champion (Won then defended twice, fought to a draw in a fight of the year calibre performance against a man who in his next fight KO'd Nathan Cleverly in his first fight as a light heavyweight, then lost after almost a year off)
Start looking at what he's done instead of just judging by just one bad match before you say anyone sucks.

Agree, well said. Original poster is a dickheaad. It was the fight of the year so far against Jack in my opinion.

Credit to Truax he worked hard and earned the win no complaints at all.
I don't know what's wrong with DeGale, I saw him interviewed during the week and he struck me as unmotivated and disinterested, almost borderline depressed.
Winning the title is hard enough, motivating ones self to maintain the high standard continuously is harder and that's what appears to be the case with DeGale.
I think he needs to go away and chill out, a head level and clear mindedness would do him the world of good.
He's a very good boxer when he wants to be but at times he strikes me of not being sure who he is and what he wants, an indecisive type of man who should take a time out and go clear his head and move in the direction that benefits him most.
I think he's very talented but needs to reboot his mind and get back on the straight and narrow, he's got it in him if he wants to but it's up to him.

Degale has always had a bit of a chip on his shoulder as he believes he should be a massive star and it has not happened for him.
He was in Froch's shadow for years, then Froch retires and Degale is still not the biggest star in the division.
Seeing Eubank and Groves sell out an arena in 7 mins for their PPV showdown while training to fight a guy most UK fans have never heard of would no doubt have been difficult.
It is fair to assume that his head wasn't fully there on Saturday, but that is no excuse. He is a professional fighter and must treat every fight like it is his most important.
Well done to Truax, trained hard, had a good game plan and upset the odds, good on him, hope he earns himself a few good paydays off the back of this win.

Truax should get more than just a little credit for this upset.
When I've seen him before he followed his man around the ring, going wherever his opponent wanted him to go but against Degale he did a much better job of cutting off the ring and keeping his man in front him.
Caleb was a "carefully chosen opponent" who turned in a career best performance.

Why would Golovkin move up? The division was a barren wasteland with only Froch as the real threat. Froch retired instead of fighting GGG, if you don't remember. As I said, MW is the much, much better division currently. 168 lbs. is still a wasteland.
Plus, Eubank Jr. didn't fight GGG when it was planned. That's why we got GGG/Brook. Not sure what you're complaining about..

The division was a barren wasteland?
Have you ever heard of Lucian Bute, Andre Ward & Mikkel Kessler, to name but 3?
168 was smoking not that long ago & that was the time for Golovkin to go, especially as 160 wasn't too hot at the same time.

when did ggg establish himself as a world class, known mw? kessler retired early 2013 and bute was ruined in 2012. think ggg was still being built
but even the later group of jack, degale, groves, ramirez, and older froch are big steps up from likes of murray, lemieux, etc. almost sad that one of those guys is gggs best clear win.id give gggs resumes a lot more credibility if hed beaten someone from that list.instead he fought a welterweight when he went against a guy fron another division.

The postfight interview with Degale was very telling: he looked completely oblivious to what happened in the ring.
Almost like he was on another planet.
It spells into 5 letters, folks:

Classic. A Degale bashing thread morphs into a thread bashing the boxer who should by all rights be fighter of the year and P4P #1 currently. I know that I say this often but . . . You can’t make this sh!t up!

Degale is doing some mind altering substance.
The bum shoulder alone cannot explain his pathetic performance.
His mind is messed up more than his body.

Couldn't be a result of having just taken 100 or so punches to the head?
Concussions don't happen in boxing?

After watching hundreds of fights and their post fight interviews, you get good at spotting the odd behavior, and Degale's is pushing all my alarm bells.
