Where next for these two?
Luis Nery vs. McDonnell?
Yafai vs. Martin Ward?

gavins done incredibly well for someone who i think had no amateur career

must be a natural

though gamal --> luis nery doesnt exactly seem like the obvious step

nerys belt is vacant now though, so maybe theres a chance to cherry pick a title vs a very weak wbc rated guy

Yafai just needs to stay active. Didn't fight as much as he should have last year.

Speaking afterwards, McDonnell said: "Experience was always going to be key, you can't jump levels in boxing. Credit to Gamal but to jump from British level to world class is too much."

No offence but McDonnell isn't world class. Yes, he lost to Vargas, who is turning out to be a good champion, but McDonnell isn't world class.

ya dont think hes world class either, at least certainly hasnt proved it yet. euro for now.

i mean this may well be his top win and its over a guy he said just jumped up from british

and to me he lost 9 rounds or so to vargas, never did that deserve to have a draw. vargas isnt so good imo that winning some rounds vs him =world level

lets see what he can do going forward. this is a good win and lets see him take another good fight

To be fair.. In an interview, he wasn't going to say 'jump from British to Euro level'.. He obviously must have said world class because he has challenged for a vacant world title.

They seem keen on a rematch with Vargas.
I’d avoid that fight. Vargas is slightly better than Mcdonnell in every department. Stylistically they are similar.
The division is quite weak. Hopefully improve rankings elsewhere and target one of the weak champions in Japan.
He’s got a great opportunity with his brother having a huge fight there to get himself noticed on the undercard.

Gavin isn't world class, but is solid euro level.

Gamal hasn't even proved himself at British level yet, I think that is more what Gavin was getting at and he is right.

Gamal should look to grab the British and defend it once or twice before stepping up again.

Gavin is probably well ranked enough to get another world title shot at some point, whether he wins one is a different story.

I wish them both luck.
