Didn't Vitali tear his left rotator cup in the 3rd round,
yet he still went 6 more rounds trying to fight in excruciating pain?
btw how did you score the rounds after round 3 ?

what was annoying about that fight (IMOP) anyway was the two continually tapping their lead hands together like
patty-cake.
Maybe Vitali should have kept his left hand in close and then just jab in-between Chris Byrd's tapping motions (?)
He didn't have to coperate with Chris Byrd's methods.

It was a horrible fight. Was literally laughing at it at the time. At times it looked like they each were trying to hit each other's gloves. The scoring was ridiculous; I had Byrd up by a point. No way he should have been down 5-7 points.
Holyfield was way past it by the time Byrd beat him.
The Tua fight was probably his best win. Byrd performed well and was fighting a live opponent.

Klitschko was winning 89-82 when the injury happened so I don't think we can count that has Byrd's best win.

Tua is definitely his best win. Tua was an underrated boxer, IMO. Only losses in his prime were to Ibeabuchi, Lennox Lewis and Byrd.

It's was a quite frequent case with Tua, when he was losing on points, but then pulled out a KO victory. I had Izon, Maskaev and Oquendo winning prior to being stopped as well. Tua was always dangerous.

Yup, probably one of the biggest punchers ever in the HWT division. If he had a little more boxing skills he'd have had a chance to be a world champ.

With the situation of the early-mid 2000s he could have been a champ in a case of better matching too. He pretty much could KO Ruiz again. He had a big opportunity to doing the same with the likes of Brewster, Liakhovich, Ibragimov, etc.

Oh...certainly. That wasn't a strong era for HWT by any means. But man, if he could box and not rely on bombs so much he may have been a legit, deserving champion.

It's not like he's one of the best HW's not to win a world title.. He was just never meant to.

He obviously could have snagged a strap at the right time, just not accurate that he was one of the biggest punchers ever.
