Re: Usyk vs Briedis

maybe i am wrong but i think that people who give big chances to Briedis will be quite disappointed
Yes, but size matters. Holyfield was better all-around, more versatile fighter than Lewis and Bowe. Still had tons of problems against each of them (although he was past his prime when he fought Lewis). If Valuev was the same size as Povetkin he would probably retire with 0-52 record. Size matters.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑26 Jan 2018, 16:10I won't be surprised if one or both of these guys would try to box versus trying to stop an opponent early.dagilechia wrote: ↑26 Jan 2018, 13:28i think this fight is a CW version of Joshua vs Wilder with Gassiev being AJ and Dorticos Wilder. i expect they will exchange a lot of punches and Gassiev comes out as the tougher one and wins by late stoppage after a very even fight. it could be similar to AJ vs Klitschko fight but honestly i dont expect Gassiev to be knocked down. Dorticos is good but i think Gassiev is tougher and generally has better skills and technique, Dorticos punches rather harder than Gassiev but it doesnt change the fact that Gassiev is a hard puncher too and his liver punch is a lethal weapon, he knocked out Wlodarczyk and knocked down Lebedev like this. i find out that a lot of people think that Dorticos is faster but i believe Gassiev just proves that they were wrong. i am more impressed by Gassiev win over Wlodarczyk than Dorticos over Kudryashov, everyone knew that the Russian is a very static and open target and quite chinny, Wlodarczyk, while he's past it, was stopped first time in his career in his almost 60 fight. this fight seems to be far more entertaining than Usyk vs Briedis. Gassiev also often seems to me like a bigger version of Golovkin. vs Lebedev he received some big shots but never was rocked or so, and just look at his powerful neck, i am not surprised if he got the best chin in CW division. he is a big guy, if both Usyk, Gassiev and Dorticos move to HW they could make this division far more interesting. well, Briedis could do well too, he knocked out a HW Charr easily. here you can see Gassiev compared to Klitschko, he is bigger than some blown up HW http://photo.BS.com/uploads/kl ... assiev.jpg
if Gassiev fights let's say Dillian Whyte, i am pretty sure he wins easily
i can see him beating Parker too, Joseph is slower, less skilled, his punch is not so impressive especially against tough opponents and as i say Gassiev is very tough, there is no big size difference too
P.S. I think both of them are better than AJ and Wilder and would destroy them if they were the same size.
I favour Gassiev against Dorticos because of his body punching too. I think any of the 4 participants of the WBSS semifinals would easily beat Manuel Charr even if they were fighting him weighing in below cruiserweight limit. Hell, I think 46 y.o. Fres Oquendo will beat Munel Charr.dagilechia wrote: ↑26 Jan 2018, 13:28i think this fight is a CW version of Joshua vs Wilder with Gassiev being AJ and Dorticos Wilder. i expect they will exchange a lot of punches and Gassiev comes out as the tougher one and wins by late stoppage after a very even fight. it could be similar to AJ vs Klitschko fight but honestly i dont expect Gassiev to be knocked down. In the UK, ITV Box Office will screen although this programme will be free to view. Starts at 8:45pm, on Sky 493 and at www.tvplayer.com.
Oquendo vs Charr will be the worst HW ''world championship'' fight ever, i can find 50 HW boxers that beat them, i think also that CW top 20 would beat both of them too. ABC federations rankings are garbage and are worth nothing, i would like the system where champion has to fight boxers ranked 5 or higher, fighters ranked 1-5 have to fight 6-10, fighters ranked 11-15 have to fight themselves to enter the top 10, losers are out and new contender enters the top 15, of course this is not going to happen because boxing is a businessBoxing Writer wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 07:21I favour Gassiev against Dorticos because of his body punching too. All 4 of these finalists have more talent than anyone at HW. It'd be tough not to consider the winner p4p 1-3. Briedis, Gassiev, Dorticos, or Usyk on anyone's resume is an insane accomplishment.![]()
I can't wait for this one, though. I think it'll be a stinker, but this will be boxing at the highest level.
Alright, that settles it for me then. Seeing as how he is Ukrainian I'll always refer to him as Oleksandr going forward. I always had anyway, this just makes it official.

Some are while some aren't, though. I don't think Lebedev has the frame to be a force at HW like he is at CW. Other than that, it is true that CW does take a lot of talent from the HW division. Usyk, Gassiev, Briedis, etc. are all HW's that fight at CW.x2x wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 14:48Mexi-Box wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 14:39 Props to whomever mentioned these guys being on another level to Joshua and Wilder. 100% fact. And these cruiserweights were actual heavyweights throughout most of the history of boxing, up until a few years ago when giants started dominating.
