Yeah, it's the one that gets held up as the worst even by people who've seen a lot of itmickey1975 wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 10:41 I was there as well, with Wharton. Not one traveller got involved. Paul Massey was fighting away like there was no tomorrow. McCrackens brother, Spencer was a Zulu so I think they thought they could do what they liked, they couldn't. Salford had them done in to be honest. I don't think McCrackens fans knew who they were taking on. Wharton fans just sat, watching. It was pretty bad, though. Probably the worst I've seen.

Thanks fella. Do you think there will ever be a conviction over the Massey killing?mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 10:33Bernard o'mahoney is bringing a book out on it soon. Yes, I know he's a dick, but I know his son, who's a bit of a dick as well. Serious players The Salford Team. No jokers or hype at all.Deserter wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 10:14Micky, purely out of curiousity, but if you know, what is the score with that Salford 'scene'? Obviously saw all the reports in the aftermath of Paul Massey's killing and there are clearly as you say some 'heavy' guys involved, but is there also an element of media hype?mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 09:26 Probably, there was some 'heavy' guys there. No. Everyone knows who did it, nobody speaks over there. Look at The Brass Handles murders or Lee Erdman, it's insane. Even West Yorkshire guys go there for gear because nobody will grass.Deserter wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 10:48Thanks fella. If you watch the Benn fight you can see chairs flying around and what not as you're watching the action with the PA system appealing for calm.Taansend wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 10:35Non boxing fans who follow one particular boxer are always the worst. Nah Skelton v Krence was Khans debut. I was at that show. Krence was a late replacement, I can’t remember who was supposed to box Skelton.
There was crowd trouble between Asian Amir Khan fans and white morons.
Been to lots of Khan fights and find his supporters are the main instigators of lots of the trouble.
And that ain't the only time.
p.s. Just had a look at that bill. Decent card.
I remember it well (except getting the Manchester clubs mixed up)dave_smith wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 10:58If you watch the Benn fight you can see chairs flying around and what not as you're watching the action with the PA system appealing for calm.Taansend wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 10:35Non boxing fans who follow one particular boxer are always the worst. Being from Salford and being friendly with a few of the "lads" ; its an element of both. Those responsible for pm's death arent on these shores and the clock is ticking. The media hype lingers from the old "gunchester" days more than the current scene.Deserter wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 10:14Micky, purely out of curiousity, but if you know, what is the score with that Salford 'scene'? Shootings have definitely gone up in Salford though, I know it's just two small groups mainly but it was pretty rare for firearms to be discharged 10/20 years ago, that all went on south of the river. Anyway it seems to have calmed down a bit now which is good.Southy1922 wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 15:30Being from Salford and being friendly with a few of the "lads" ; its an element of both. Yep, pretty sure Jennings' lot were there that night, very noisy in the beer tent! I was on my own and just happened to be sat amongst some Sheffield lads, Joe Calzaghe was sat just a couple of rows in front of us. After the Woods result was announced the Sheffield lads were getting off and some heavy set Asian bloke was stood in the aisle shouting at them for not staying to support Khan, he got some abuse for his trouble too. was thinking of getting off myself as it was getting late but I stayed and Khan ended it pretty quickly as I recall. Driving home I could only feel a bit sorry for Soulemayne M'Baye who lifted the WBA 140 title in a half empty arena.mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 08:41Khan topped. Can't remember which Khan night at that venue when Foster Jr. was on, but Khan fans didn't get away with anything that night. Full Salford team out. I was worried drinking with them! Jennings had a lot there as well.dave_smith wrote: ↑27 Jan 2018, 08:30Did Khan top the bill? I thought he was way down it and his fans were causing trouble afterwards for the rest of the night? Remember a few people getting carted off in ambulances.Jackson328 wrote: ↑24 Jan 2018, 12:20 I remember watching Clinton defend the IBF title v Glenn Johnson at Bolton Arena a few years ago, I was sat by a group of lads from Sheffield and they irked some of the locals who where there supporting Amir Khan as they got off at the end of the Woods/Johnson bout. The Woods fans were peeved that Khan was topping the bill in a routine bout despite the Woods/Johnson fight being for a world title. I think Ricky Hatton was in the Woods corner too for some reason but he was so fat that lots of people didn't recognise him!
Great night with comical moments - M'baye winning the WBA title but they only had a WBC belt so they stuck a posit note saying WBA over the WBC logo. Genius. Always thought Woods lost that fight but everyone who watched on telly said he did just enough.
