They probably should have matched him with the other ones of his Tomorrow Champions comrades, like Bobby Czyz, or Alex Ramos. Would have payed to see those two fights, especially Czyz, who said they really went after each other in sparring.

Yes, he certainly needed fights against better competition. Usually the best way to develop a fighter is to gradually have him fight better and better opponents. Fights against other young fighters or against decent veterans would have helped him. He only had one fight against a non-tomato can. He would have been thrown in against too good of competition too soon.
