I would love to see that fight, but it could easily create questions on who the second best CW is. Of course, I wouldn't mind to see each of the top 4 fight each other to resolve all questions.

Usyk and Gassiev will move up at HW by the end of this year, likely. If this happen, MB might be the best at CW, even the undisputed champion.

He should move to HW, clean it out, and wait for Usyk for a rematch. Him and Usyk are special fighters.

Breidis KO's Dorticos IMO.

ya id favour briedis. dorticos looked short on ideas. like a big powerful guy who doesnt know what to do if he cant overwhelm his opponent.

briedis imo has never shown chin problems

though I am fairly sure Usyk got to him a little with a couple of bodyshots. One I recall was maybe round 5 or 6, Usyk has a really good subtle counter left uppercut to the body and he dug one in which I saw Briedis have to take a big breather from.

No, not at all. Briedis is on another level. What the hell fights are you watching? Briedis had a razor close fight with the #1 in the world. Dorticos got dominated and stopped by the #2-3 CW in the world.

Watch, Briedis dominates Dorticos and stops him faster than Gassiev.

From what I understand, Mairis Briedis is appearing on the undercard of the WBSS final between Usyk-Gassiev, acting as substitute in the event of one of those guys getting injured. I don’t know who he'll be facing though. For the record, this information was acquired from an interview transcript (taken from the proverbial horse's mouth) rather than via BoxRec.

Therefore, I suspect his next bout will be his final outing at cruiserweight, if he can’t secure an immediate rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

The Latvian has technically competed in 13 heavyweight bouts, but I guess he was only a fully-blown heavyweight for five of them.

On a side note, Tony Bellew claims that he declined an opportunity to face Mairis Briedis, because he was being paid twenty times more to face David Haye (for their first fight), which means that cruiserweights really must be paid a pittance in comparison to their heavyweight counterparts.

For all I know, Briedis may prefer to remain at cruiserweight if the winner of the WBSS vacates their belts, but I doubt there'll be another tournament in that division anytime soon, which means that the lure of earning bigger paydays as a heavyweight may be too hard to resist.
